Re: REPORT: Bulls support for Lavine wavering as he becomes RFA
There isn’t much universal support from here either. Would anyone mind if they sign and trade him for a solid deal or even just let him go to save more cap space ? I wouldn’t care, there’s some players in this free agency that can fill his spot and could be cheaper. For example Redick would be an ok option and can fit it nicely with dunn. Having said that though bulls will probably not let that happen,he will stay and if they don’t like him much they can always trade him later on.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

If that is actually true, no way in hell Bulls match a large offer for LaVine.
It doesn't make sense that they wanted to feature lavine over Lauri to begin with.

There are a lot of pluses with him
-good shooter
-elite athlete
-hard worker
-good guy/teammate
-his man D is not bad
We know his weaknesses, but unless it's a crazy, max type offer, he'll be back. The Bulls are a business, and he is good for business

Yes let's feature the guy who can't create his own shot, goes thru ice cold streaks and had plenty of games where he was literally a non factor
Over the guy who scored 35 vs the timberwolves less than a month returning from an acl and went toe to toe with jimmy butler scoring the bulls last 15 points of the game.
Look lavine needs to improve some things but judging him so harshly in 24 games in from a serious injury and in a contract year is ridiculous and unfair to him.
You have a young athletic player who can shoot and get his own shot and bulls fans hate him

KC hasn't been right about much lately. He's also contradicted himself a couple of times in the last week. Can only be Lakers or Sacto in the West. The only other teams would be Philly, BKN and Indy. Nobody has the cap space to offer much.
Kings desperately want to start winning games, so would anyone be surprised if they offered Lavine a contract? I wouldn't

Good move. No need to max him out. Let him test free agency.

Dallas after Cousins offer falls through?
DSJ
Zach
Luka
Carlisle may have a stroke.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

I wouldn't doubt Sacramento. They have a hard time attracting talent and are desperate to be competitive.
But Sacramento has Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Do they need another SG-sized player? What about Dallas or the Clips? My understanding is those teams at least could have enough cap space depending on what else they do.
Sacramento hardly operates by logic or roster needs.

I think it would be Dallas. Not sure how they'll use Doncic and DSJ and Lavine and expect to win.
Who would you guys choose as a FA if we lost Lavine. I'd be interested in going for Smart or Bradley. Or we could just roll with Nwaba and Valentine.

That's my point. Those contracts look crazy from a summer where everyone had cap space.
This summer only a couple teams do. Zach is not worth more than 15M per.

This is the start of negotiating. And you can even see that it's possible they're INVITING a team to make an offer. So they can match and keep him longterm.
Personally, I think he's going to sign a 1 plus 1 deal. The Lakers making him an offer is laughable, it's just not happening. And even the Kings can probably find a better fit in RFA's than him. I doubt they'd go to ridiculous levels on him.

This is brilliant strategy by the Bulls actually. They leak this news that they don't really want Lavine... This will make teams interested in Lavine offer a much smaller contract than they originally would have if they knew the Bulls valued Lavine so highly.
Everything is about the money right now.

the short list of teams who might even consider making him an offer is - short
the list of team that who are able to make him a reasonably lucrative offer - even shorter

The concern with LaVine is his basketball IQ. It was scary-bad last year.
Hopefully that improves as he gets more acclimated to things.
Scottie Pippen's response to whom he would pick for his running mate, Michael or LeBron: "That's a dumbass question. I've never done anything with LeBron. I wouldn't take LeBron to the movies."
