If these are the options then might as well stick to Fred or just make Doug Collins coach. Also Becky Hammon really? Lol

I know nothing of coaches. But a young progressive mind in the mold of a Brad Stevens or Quin Snyder seems like the ideal type. Any college guys out there fitting that description?

I was shocked that Messina was interviewing for a job last summer, it was assumed around the league he was the heir apparent to Popovich.

I guess San Antonio can lose players & coaches like any other team.

Like I said in the Cowley article thread any of these are total crap shoots and prove my point that unless we're getting a proven big name coach to leave another team this is just another risk in the grand scheme of a franchise rebuild.

A risk on a new coach may be what we need to get to the championship level but I think the roster ultimately needs to be focused on before championships are on the horizon.

Right now, I'd lean towards Becky Hammon.

Rondo or Kukoc. Rondo because I think he's got a great basketball mind and he's not going to let sloppy play last too long before he's yanking guys. Kukoc because I believe he's also got a sharp basketball mind and he'd bring a different flavor to the position. He'd be a long-shot gamble-type pick.

What about David Blatt? Okay, I'm joking, even though I don't think he's a bad coach (and think he got a raw deal in Cleveland).

Honestly, there is no one on the list who really appeals to me.

I was hoping for the Bulls to cut ties with Fred and sign Dave Joerger when he became available. Wasn't going to happen of course, since Fred was only 1 season in to his 5 year contract.

I think he is one of the best young coaches in the league right now, and with the right team I think he could be a championship calibre head coach.

Time to re-introduce Kirk Hinrich's genius on the league

I would rather take a risk on someone who could be the next great coach then stick with Fred who costs this team wins each year.

It’s weird to me that this rhetoric of Hoiberg costing the team wins exist.

They won 27 games last year after starting 3-20. We were mad that they won too many games. The Portis and Mirotic thing should've killed the locker room but it didn't. Hoiberg gets little to no credit for that.

They’re 3-9 now and have been in a lot of these games despite all the injuries.

Hoiberg becoming the major scapegoat was obvious, and whilst he’s not a good coach, it’s far more likely the next person they bring in is no better.

Maybe you can add Thibs to the list, too. Hoiberg has been a better coach than Thibs over the last two seasons, and I’m sure few will agree with that, but whilst we’re kicking Fred now, maybe as well bring back Thibs, ey?
