Rotation when everyone's back

Post#1 » by transplant » Sun Nov 18, 2018 11:01 pm

I have to imagine that when Hoiberg gets his team back, he's going to be all about winning games and won't care much about being politically correct. i see an 8-man rotation, at least for a while.

During this awful stretch, Hoiberg seems to have lost confidence in Payne and frustration with Parker's defensive indifference without a compensating offensive payoff has been evident. Even with their decimated roster, The highly-paid Felicio seldom sees double-digit meaningful minutes.

So who is Hoiberg going to trust? Will Parker get significant minutes at SF despite having shown no aptitude for the position? Will Lopez be the backup C or will Portis get these minutes. Will Felicio ever see the floor?

I bet there is a 10-11 man rotation.

The frontcourt will be Parker, Lauri, Portis and Wendell seeing 20+ minutes.
PG will just be Dunn around 30 and Arci getting 18.
SG will be Lavine around 32 and Blakeney about 16.
SF will be a split between Val and Holiday
Lopez, Felicio, Payne or Harrison will also see some odd minutes.

As a last point, I don't think Hoiberg is doing the rotations by himself. He is getting heavy guidance from the front office according to Paxson and based on how things have gone, I have no reason to believe that Paxson is lying.

If this is how it works out, then I guess I think Hoiberg will be back next season. Interesting.

Val is out with no timetable to return. By then Hutch should be proven NBA player.

I strongly suspect he will be.

I know its not what the OP asked, but I would like to see this (assuming Val is done):

PG: Dunn 34, Shaq 14
SG: Zach 34, Blakeney 14
SF: Hutchison 24, Holiday 24
PF: Lauri 28, Bobby 20
C: WCJ 34, Lopez 8, Lauri 6

I'd give more time to Bobby, and I'm not as high on Hutch as most. I'd want:

Defensive Guard: Dunn (33), Shaq (15)
Scoring Guard: Lavine (35), Blakeney (13)
SF: Hutch (starting for offense/defense fit) (20), Valentine (28)
PF: Lauri (32), Portis (16)
CC: Carter (32), Portis (16)

I have no idea what to expect, though. My guess is that if Holiday, Rolo and Parker are still here, they'll all get minutes - especially Holiday.

I like seeing Portis at the Center spot. No more Felicio please.
I'd say Dunn 28 and Shaq and Arci 10 each. and maybe replace Blakeneys minutes with Holiday.

I want to see as little Portis as possible. He doesn't play defense and that kills you on the interior.

PG: Dunn/Arci/Shaq
SG: Lavine/Blakeney
SF: Holiday/Hutchinson/Valentine
PF: Markhannen/Portis/Parker
C: Carter/Lopez

Realistically, Parker could play his way into the rotation, and Shaquille Harrison could outplay Arci. I want to see how the team plays when everyone is healthy. The Bulls best bet is too wear teams out with depth and defense, similar to the Skiles era teams.

Based on your rotation, you apparently want to start Hutch with Dunn, Zach, Lauri and Carter? Well, my problem with this is, there are not enough shooters on the starting unit. Dunn can score, but he is not known as a shooter. Hutch can't shoot, at least not yet. WCJ is suspect in that respect. So, three non-shooters in the starting lineup? No way! I'd go with Holiday in the starting lineup, because of his ability to defend, shoot from deep, and I also like his presence as a veteran out there.

PG: Dunn/Arci
SG: Lavine/Blakeney (ugh)
SF: Holiday/Parker (sorry Hutch)
PF: Markkanen/Portis
C: Carter/Lopez

It'll be painful to watch the 2nd unit defense of Blakeney/Parker/Portis but we will probably be thanking them come draft time lol

What you say makes sense. I don't see Holiday as a good defender, especially at SF where he's too small though.

I'd rather get the rookie more burn + have a great defense, even at the cost of shooting.
