Source: Bulls give Jim Boylen salary bump, deal through at least next season

Post#1 » by Jo Jo English » Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:58 pm

https://chicago.suntimes.com/?post_type=cst_article&p=1621550

A team source told the Sun-Times on Saturday that Boylen has not only received a bump in pay since he took over from Fred Hoiberg on Dec. 3, but that bump includes him receiving “a contract beyond this year.’’

The source was asked if the contract went past next season, and did not comment, but it was later confirmed that it was just through 2019-20 for now.

Giving him a pay bump is fine, but why would we lock ourselves into a commitment beyond this season? This clearly isn't working. What are we doing here? Just terrible...

Also, the fact that the Bulls extended Foreman so quietly and then did this quietly is just... it's like they're aware of how hated they are by their own fanbase, but instead of trying to deal with the issue they just operate with secrecy

Told y'all so...

Locked in cheapness planned from the start. Although I still have faith in Boylen.

Sucks for development. I can’t believe how inept this franchise is.

In the Sun Times article he talks a lot about his time coaching the Utah Utes. I actually didn't realize that he had head coaching experience there.

Just did some research and this is what popped up:

Instead, the players subjected to Boylen’s coaching methods were jumping ship, as though it were a burning, sinking freighter, a third of the team leaving the program, looking for some other place to play, some other coach for whom to play for.

Those Utah players from seven and eight years ago acted and sounded a lot like the Chicago Bulls players act and sound now, after Boylen took over as head coach following the recent firing of Fred Hoiberg.

At Utah, he had a losing record both seasons (13-18 and 14 and 17).

He deserves the pay raise, the Bulls have been performing wonderfully. So happy to be a Bulls fan. Our coaching is great, our players are great, our front office is the best in the league. God bless you Jerry Reinsdorf

We're just a bunch of idiot fans, what do we know? Why should they care what we think?

This was so obvious from the first press conference post Fred.

They had to do it now because it would be a lot harder to defend if they did it after the Bulls finished 18-64.

They had a mass mutiny... a real mutiny, at Utah. A full one third of all the players left the school when Boylen was the head coach. THAT is unheard of, to have that many players transfer out of a program like that. If that wasn't a major red flag, what is?

Lol I’m so done with the NBA. Just complete trash and ineptitude at every turn.

They couldn't do that to Majerus, he just blocked the door.

Seriously though very interesting. I don't get this
