I think they've been hiding the extent of his injury but he isn't coming back. We'll see, but the story keeps changing... now he'll be re-evaluated in a week? We've heard that song and dance before. Warriors are going to have to do it without him again. I'm betting on it and I'm betting they're still standing at the end regardless.
I agree with all of this. If they do win again without him, I think the word in the Bay will be that the Warriors are just more fun without him and. . "look they still just won another championship without him".dougthonus wrote:I think it will be really interesting how the league remembers Durant if the Warriors win this one without him in the ECF, Finals, and last game and a half against Houston.
I think there would be a knee jerk reaction to devalue him considerably more than is reasonable.
I also wonder if it would impact his summer decision any. I'm rooting for him to leave the Warriors, because while I think the Warriors may still contend if he goes, it will certainly be a much more interesting NBA.

Agreed, unless you super value a few extra rebounds/assists vs efficiency and points, which probably no one would.

There's probably some grey area. Durant is one of the best players and scorers ever. His presence afforded Curry some nights to not be historically great to win titles. On the flip side, Durant joined a 73 win team, which was a clear shortcut to championships.
It's probably done his all-time rank more bad than good. Steph is going to be remembered better.

Yeah I think Durant's presence really made people forget how great Curry is. I mean we are talking about a two-time back-to-back League MVP.... And with KD hurt we're seeing just how great Curry can be when it really matters. The big shots and big plays he makes are just amazing.bpguimaraes23 wrote:Red Larrivee wrote:dougthonus wrote:I think it will be really interesting how the league remembers Durant if the Warriors win this one without him in the ECF, Finals, and last game and a half against Houston.

Funny, a see way more people talking about KD as the best player in detriment of Curry.

If you rank them individually, Durant is the better player. But, Curry's game fits the Warriors or for that matter any team because what he does has never been done, IMO. What Durant does is has been done by a lot of superstars in the past...there is some idea on how to contain it. It is just impossible to stop Curry....he can make opposition killer shots from every spot on the court. He doesn't a favorite spot.
Kerr: KD injury 'more serious than we thought'
"Hopefully he continues to progress, and he has made progress but it's a little more serious than we thought at the very beginning," Kerr said after the Warriors' 114-111 Game 2 victory. "So we'll see where it all goes, but he's in there all day long getting treatment. He's done a great job of committing himself to that process. [Warriors director of sports medicine and performance] Rick [Celebrini] and his staff are in there all day, and hopefully he'll be back at some point, but we'll just wait and see."
Durant, who hasn't played since he strained his calf in the third quarter of the Warriors' Game 5 win over the Houston Rockets in the conference semifinals, won't travel with the team to Portland, Oregon, for Games 3 and 4, Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers told NBC Bay Area in a pregame appearance.
