What would you trade for Westbrook?

Post#1 » by vxmike » Sat Jul 6, 2019 7:43 am

Westbrook has to be available now after the PG13 trade.

The Bulls should go for it. They don’t sign guys of his caliber in FA and almost every East playoff team has been weakened.

Lavine/Felicio/2 FRPs. Would anyone beat that offer? Include Dunn or Val if needed for salary. OKC could flip Lavine for more assets if desired and go full rebuild.

I don’t view Lavine as having much more upside from here or being a cornerstone. This would still leave some cap space next summer I think.

Nothing. He can take his $205 million contract and become the permanent mascot of the Thunder.

Nothing. Seriously nothing.

$200 million. TWO HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. You have to actually say it to believe it.

Yeah. Given his contract, which I completely forgot about, and the fact that he’s not a star that will lead us to championships..... I wouldn’t trade for him.

I’d rather roll with what we got and see where it leads.

After thinking about it, Young, Satoransky, Dunn, Felicio and a few protected firsts. Only if we’re already in the playoffs and playing well. League is wide open, why not?

Westbrook is turning 31
Westbrook can't even get his team out of the 1st round of the playoffs
Westbrook has a $200m contract

Why would we trade significant assets for him? What's the end goal? To make it to the playoffs and lose in the 1st round? That's what we'd be getting if we traded for Westbrook now.

Realistically we can't sign Young or Tomas till December so to make salaries work we'd have to include Otto and like Felicio or Dunn/Valentine.

I would be curious to see what his game looks like with a team that can space the floor. It seems like very OKC lineup included almost zero shooting which may have lead to some of Westbrooks inefficiencies.

Spot on post! Westbrook doesn’t fit the youth movement. Had we kept Butler, this would make sense but not w a young team. Stay patient and see how the young guys pan out. White, Gafford, Shaq, Mokoka and Hutch looked promising. Patience grasshopper!

Initially I was thinking whatever they want!

I did not realize he was that old.

The idea of using Porter's contract in a trade for Westbrook is interesting, but I would hesitate to do it, given the lack of depth at SF, and also the fact that Otto is a really good player.

I guess the real question is would it change your thinking if you knew you weren't going to re-sign him next year if he were to opt-out?

Ideally, you'd fit Westbrook into your existing cap space (If you had a max slot available and could get nobody else). Then you could probably get away with only having to deal some complimentary pieces and maybe a 1st round pick to get a deal done. Unfortunately, that's not an option.

Add that to the fact that he's 30+ and on the decline and that's an easy no.

It would only work if it was a pure salary dump and we just used all of our cap space. So I don't think it would ever work. You would have to center it around Otto, which creates a giant hole at SF and OKC has no particular use for Otto.

A very emphatic HELL NO!
And tossing back a, "Why the F would they trade for him?

Really can't think of any reason to do that, at all. Not one.

I have had some very easy hell no comments this last week, this is yet another one.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Would trade if its Lavine+Felicio+Dunn+Hutch+Valentine and no drafts picks involved.
Rather get rid of all the dead weights by salary dump and get a top 20 player who is just 30 yrs old.
I know its stupid money but assuming no tier 1 FA is signing, its actually not that bad for contending.
Guaranteed playoffs with a wide open East for next 4 years.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

this is why realgm bulls fans can't win...i watched all of you guys want this and that player and we never get that so called player, only to be blind-sided by garpax's crappy moves and trades. Russell could actually be that guy if he can get a fresh start. don't come at me with stubbornness.

Would rather lose Porter for nothing than be stuck with Westbrook for next 4 years.
