Not sure what to make of this, I guess it depends on how "partially" the guarantee is. It sounds like "beyond training camp" otherwise partial guarantee would be an odd phrase to use. Maybe they guaranteed him 200k and are willing to pay him that much just to get him to attend camp even if he's on the bubble.

They don't have a roster spot to use without waiving someone.

according to this we targeted him for some reason. we traded for him in G-league to get his rights and then signed him to partial guarantee. this is certainly beyond training camp move.

Do they still have a 2-way spot they can give him?

I think we have enough guards for camp bodies and if he’s here i hate to start the guessing again but surely someone is gone. And there is a certain someone we barely hear or see anymore who seems disconnected from the team already.

That highlight shows some positives! I don't know anything about him as I didn't follow Loyola. Not sure if he's capable of putting all that together at the NBA level or to do it consistently, but he looks like he has a role in the NBA.
- good length and energy
- capable of playing at his own pace / not looking rushed
- can score inside and out
- anticipation on defense

I know someone has to man the guard spot for the G League team but I would rather see them sign a couple stud G League SF's rather than guards. The depth at SF is the weakest in my opinion.

I know nothing about him, but the Bulls have done a solid job of finding promising fringe players. As others have pointed out, the partial guarantee makes it seem as if we're hopeful that he'll make this roster. Not entirely sure where he fits in roster wise though, unless there's a trade or buyout on the horizon.

Didn’t Diamond Stone get a partial guarantee of like $50K? He’ll be a camp body and a regular with Windy City.

So, would this be considered an upgrade or downgrade from a G League Rookie of the Year?

I doubt it is just that but surely that has to be an added incentive. I think in general you would love to capitalize on that in any minor league system when it makes sense. All things bring equal the local kid likely wins out, but if things aren’t equal I doubt they sign a local kid just for draw at the g league level.
