The Bulls need to draft the best player available regardless of position. I’m not interested in fit. We need a legit star. This year may be more of crap shoot though.
2023-2024 Bulls Prediction:
Regular Season: 40-42

I agree. I think the strategic difference could be semantics, but I hope they go for player with highest potential available vs. BPA.

Which will always be a lead handler 1st option player.

It could have been worse- we could have traded up and taken Bamba.
Bamba was a very solid prospect. But you cannot take him and then sit him behind Isaac, Gordon, Vucevic and expect him to develop.
With Jonathan Isaac going down with an acl tear i wonder if Bamba will get a chance to shine.

I do think Jones definitely has some talent. Does not have a great vertical at all as he can barely dunk, but seems like a fluid athlete, good frontline speed, good hesi and step back dribbles, solid 3 point accuracy, etc... Seems like a heady player like a Malcolm Brogden type, if it pans out.
I really like Jalen Smith though. Good 3 point shot, elite shot blocker, length. Just needs to continue to add strength.

Hope the Bulls are looking at guys with hope of trading back. I also hope they can find a way not to add our second rounder to the roster through 2-way or off-shore stash. We need to sort through a lot this season.

I'm out of the loop.
Is this draft as dreadful as I think it is?

In terms of star player potential? Yep. But in terms of getting a guy that could be a great 3rd-4th best player, pretty good, imo.

I think this draft is where mid to late 1st rounders and many 2nd rounders will be better.

I like Reed as a versatile defender and small ball 5.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread: Bulls pick #7 (probably)
I’m excited that the Bulls are interviewing all across the board. The deep draft is always more interesting when the top-10 prospects have more holes in their games than Swiss cheese.
Also, it’ll be nice to see some major trade work done. I think we’ve all forgotten that trades can be done to improve rosters, not just shed salaries. I do expect trades. This roster is 75% opposite of whatever AK helped construct in Denver (zero offense at the center position, poor athleticism/length, poor passing).
I really expect him to hack into this big man and small guard rotation. It’s plainly stupid.

Unless they get a top 3 pick, I'm not really interested in this draft. While Ball, Edwards or Wiseman aren't franchise players, out of this draft, they are the 3 best prospects. Deni Avdija is a close 4; outside of that I'm not enamored at all with any pick after that.

It's interesting how much people disagree on basically all projected lottery picks this year, probably due to the lack of top-end talent in this class. Kind of sucks that this is year I had the time to really take a close look at every first round prospect, but it also makes things very interesting. I think we could see a lot of surprises in the draft.
People who are down on Hayes should go back and read pre-draft scouting profiles of James Harden.
I'm pretty convinced that the "below average athleticism" and "he's too left handed" arguments against him are weak. He's certainly seems athletic enough to play in the league, and most guys are too right-handed and can't do anything with their left hands. I mean, they are weaknesses, but he's shown that he's a very effective player at a young age and against better than NCAA competition.
And the upside of a guy who can score and pass and run a pick and roll like that is so huge. People don't realize how much it opens up for other players who aren't so dynamic.
Yep, he's still by far my favorite prospect, and I wouldn't think twice about choosing him over Melo.

Man this is not the draft to trade down. There are only a handful of players I like. Ball, Edwards, Wiseman, Danni, Topping, Okorro, Vessel. A lot of these players I don’t see how they fit with the bulls but I wouldn’t worry about that. When you are a young team like the bulls you just work on adding talent. Hayes look pretty good.
