Agreed.

Gafford shouldn't have done it, but Gafford is basically a kid who is liked and we want to keep around and who made a mistake. Also, what he said was impolite, but true.

Also agreed, except the part about Boylen growing as a person. Not sure if that is definitely true, but as you noted, that part was kinda out of bounds anyway.

So he gets a pass.

Also agreed.

Boylen, on the other hand, can **** right off. He's done and said worse to a variety of players and specifically Gafford.

Probably one of the things Boylen has been too honest with is his feedback on players in the media. I enjoy that type of response, but it's a terrible idea to throw players under the bus in public even when they deserve it.

What has he said about Gafford? I'm sure he could have said something. I don't recall him specifically throwing Gafford under the bus at all.

I chalk this up to a rookie not knowing what to say (i.e. know not to say much of anything), but c'mon guys, he's doing us a solid - so I am not at all bothered.

I'm guessing Gafford didn't feel too good about Boylen not thinking his twisted ankle was worth burning a timeout on. :D

He barely said anything let alone enough to say "air it out like a child".

He was asked a question on his personal streaming account, he answered the question personally.

He didn't say "That dude is an **** and I **** hate his guts." That's something you don't say. He said he didn't care for him and he had a lot of things to work on as a person because he has seen first hand how he treats players.

He has every right to say it and say it and he also completely right.

So NBA players are just hanging out on this Twitch thing now and dishing stuff?

How do we get on those streams and conversations?
I've heard of twitch but thought it was a video game thing.

Is Gafford playing games on there and yakking and people recording and taking notes.

It's quite common actually for many of these players streaming on Twitch, especially during the pandemic. Nothing to do, can't go anywhere, and most are kids who grew up with video games.

Devin Booker found out that the season was cancelled due to COVID while streaming on Twitch playing Call of Duty.

Just gonna disagree about that. Does he have the right to say it? Sure, it's a free country. Could he have crossed more lines and said really horrible things instead of only somewhat mildly bad things? Sure.

But when you go around publicly saying negative things about people you work with, that's not a good thing to do for several pretty obvious reasons.

gotcha, you gotta be running twitch and know these guys handles and then you can hang out on their stream if they are on.

I wonder if my kid knows Luka streams Fortnight stuff. I know he plays that game.

funny that some comments you make playing games can and will be used against you. I warn my kid all the time once it's on the internet it's out there and probably FOREVER.

man am I glad they didn't have this stuff when I was growing up or in my 20's.....

A couple of takeaways here.

The first (and perhaps least concerning) is that Gafford really shouldn’t be providing such commentary...on Twitch no less. A player in his position should be making it an open and shut case. That is.....keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut. I’m not as concerned with that part of it because he will learn better as he matures.

The second thing is the biggest. It’s not that Gafford said what he said, but WHY he felt so comfortable doing it. There are only two rookies on this team. Gafford is one of them. So when a guy like that speaks that freely about his lack of enthusiasm for his coach, you just know that the same belief is circulating throughout the entire locker room. No other way that this happens. And if that is the case, which I believe it is, Boylen is done as far as these guys are concerned. They just don’t have much interest in playing for him. So Gafford’s “disrespect” is simply a byproduct of a much more deeply rooted issue in my opinion.

He needed that timeout in case the Bulls were down 20 with 30 seconds left though.

He has the right privately.

Not on a Twitch stream.

He said Boylen can get better as a person. That's just unacceptable to air out publicly.

I don't even like Boylen, but there has to be some sign of professionalism displayed by the players in public.

He has every right to say either of those things. The first would be way worse than the second to say.

Is it a good idea to say either of those things? No, but again the first would be way worse than the second.

I don't view it as a big deal, but it's definitely not a good thing.

FWIW , back in 07 rookie Noah laid an expletive bomb on assistant Ron Adams and was probably voicing a whole lot of inappropriate things for a new-comer when he got that 2-game teammate-voted suspension. And he turned out to be an OK long-term player, right?

Yeah Gafford knocking Boylen's coaching and personality isn't a great look, but he really did say it in a pretty diplomatic, Twitch kind of a way.

Really don't think it's a big deal. Especially since everybody who heard that was probably... "Yep, true, true..." I agree he can face a light internal reprimand, perhaps apologize publicly to Boylen, but I really didn't hear anything wildly inappropriate.

I thought the days of the Gestapo Bulls were over?

There was not getting him out of the game 2x when injured, said he had to improve on things to play over Felicio, etc.. What Gafford said was bad, but Boylen is the guy that no one on the team likes/respects. Boylen has thrown numerous players under the bus worse than Gafford said about Boylen.

If Gafford was doing a Q&A, that was a good time to go to "Next question." As I read the transcript, my takeaway was that he really doesn't like Boylen and was trying hard not to say it.

I trust that Boylen has been in touch with Gafford and is using this as "a teaching moment."

I'm pretty sure that the seismic activity caused by every Bulls fan watching that and screaming at our TVs and stomping up and down in unison actually registered as a minor earthquake around the Chicagoland area.

Do you even know what twitch is? Its a freaking gaming streaming service where your allowed to talk trash.
There are a ton of gamers that make a living off kids doing this cringe thing. Its another industry Gafford might have success.

I don't think anyone disagrees that he has a right to do it. Having a right to do something and it being the right thing to do are two different things. People are commenting on the second of those things not the first.
