What does the Qualifying offer mean? They signed him for another year? And can they still trade him now or later on?

Restricted free agency allows the team to match any offer the player receives from another team. But in order to have that right, the team must have issued the player a qualifying offer. If a qualifying offer wasn’t issued, that player is an unrestricted free agent instead.

The qualifying offer is binding as a one-year contract. If the player signs it, he’s under contract for next season. He could also sign an offer sheet from another team (which his team would have the ability to match), and he and his team could agree on a new, multi-year contract. The team also has the ability to rescind the qualifying offer going forward.

FYI - He can potentially becoming a trade candidate down the line (he would have had veto power if he played on the QO).

valuing passing, shooting and IQ -- not saying I love Valentine but I like the direction

also means no defense, no athleticism, no finishing at rim etc.

Valentine. Why?

Useless. I’d rather sign Frank Nitty.

Another awful GarPax pick.

It could just be that they know Dunn will receive an offer they don't want to match so why waste everyone's time.

I doubt he gets $4 million on the open market this year.

After Denzel accepts his QO, am I correct the Bulls can not trade him without his consent (because he would have to give up his Bird Rights) ?

I don't think so in that scenario. We should be good.

Valentine has skills coming off the bench that this team could really use. Hey hasn't been used properly since he got hurr

Being traded does not reset your Bird Rights clock, changing teams as a free agent does.

Okay now I'm confused. I figured Shaq would just be the Dunn replacement.

Bulls have to be setting up for a trade or drafting a point guard based on these moves

Haliburton sure fits now. Playmaker and defender.

Seems like AK is signaling that he doesn't like one-dimensional point guards. At the end of the day, Dunn, Shaq, and Arci all shared a lot of similarities that made them redundant. I think we should expect a guard in this draft.

It’s a shooters league. Dunn and Shaq couldn’t shoot. Valentine can. Not sure this does anything to who we draft, outside of maybe moving down players that can’t hit the 3 well.

That's kind of what I'm expecting now. Just really hope it's not Haliburton with 4. Like him as a player, but believe his ceiling is too limited to be a top 5 pick.

Yeah, I get the feeling that AK is going to build a team where every single player needs to be able to provide something offensively.

2 out 3 good moves. Wish it was 3 for 3.
