Dunn made zero sense. Glad he can find a new gig. I think he'd fit LAL really well, as a 9-10th man... you can play him alongside small guards (Schroeder, Caruso)- they're probably losing Bradley or Rondo... He should take a tiny deal and prove himself.

Bringing back Denzel at $4.6m / season is a weird choice with the current roster (seems high for his role). If you're making that deal, I'd assume you plan to actually use him - which might signal changes elsewhere in the roster.

Shaq gave you 80% of what Dunn did. Any word on his QO?

I have to admit, I'm kind of bummed about Dunn. That first season we had him, he actually looked promising. It's a bummer we couldn't develop him properly.

Valentine annoys me at times, but I could see him having a Danny Green type of role on a contender.

I get not offering to Dunn but to Valentine? I think Dunn is more useful than Denzel honestly, but if you keep Shaq he brings what Dunn does in defense.

Valentine, must think they need him because he is disappointing to me on all levels.

Dunn has been gone for a while. He was the only one that didn't attend the mini camp I believe.

These are all 8th to 12th man type guys so the dollar amounts probably played a heavy factor. The QO for Dunn was around $7M vs Denzel at around $4M. Plus having Shaq and his roughly $2M QO makes Dunn easier to let go.

This is correct. I was concern now it’s official. He will find another role on a contender and get paid after.

This also affirms to me another pg is getting drafted

Not surprised. He didn't even attend camp. But keeping Val...c'mon man.

i think if you squint, bringing back denzel makes sense? if we're gonna be cap constrained anyway you might as well bring back a shooter who can be salary filler in a trade.

dunn's QO is more expensive and he's probably more likely to get a legit contract offer elsewhere. not gonna act like i fully understand player/agent dynamics in situations like this, but i could see dunn being unhappy if he's brought back for only a year without a definite role carved out, whereas denzel is probably grateful for whatever he can get.

Val could be a decent role player for cheap. He's the kind of guy who isn't a star but raises the baseline for your bench (solid playmaking/rebounding/shooting). He was in Boylen's doghouse because he couldn't play Boylen's gimmicky blitz defense (but to be fair, only Dunn and Shaq could play that effectively)

I could see that coming for Dunn too. Shaq provides 80% of what Dunn does at bottom of the barrel salary. He did show some improvements in his shot as the season went on. If he continues to build on that he could be a solid 3/D guard to bring off the bench.

Denzel at a QO of $4 million makes sense as salary filler in a trade.

I doubt he gets $4 million on the open market this year.

Small chance this signals we're thinking of drafting a PG.

YES!!! Done with Dunn.

I think that the reality is that, if the FO wanted, one of Dunn or Shaq can he had on a vet min deal. I also think that Val is a decent shooter/playmaker off the bench and can give minutes at SF, which is a useful skillset. It may also foreshadow a parting of the ways with Sato, who has similar attributes.

I honestly think you can get a better player than Valentine even for $4M, basically nothing.
His only contribution is shooting, and he shoots 33% from 3.

Who are the available "experienced" PGs out there?

Jrue?
Rubio?

I'd love to somehow snag Jrue. That would be a get.
