How about what SF gave up just to move up from 12 to 3? 3 first round picks, plus a 3rd. I'm loving that trade if I'm a Dolphins fan, and I think they just moved back up to 6 using one of those future firsts. This seems a much steeper price than what Bears gave up to move up for Mitch.

I think the Bears plan should be as follows going forward.

1. Trade Miller probably on draft day
2. With all the available QBs on draft day I think there's a better than decent chance of Justin Fields dropping. Wilson, Lawrence, Jones, Lance, and Jimmy G could all be on the move before Fields gets drafted. I think if the Falcons pass on him he drops out of the top 10. At that point, I think he's worth trading up for but I would sit and wait at 20 to see if he drops to us. If not, trade down a few spots maybe with the jets to get an extra early 1st and take Trask
3. Take a WR and or OT in the second depending on how many picks we end up having in the second
4. Take a CB in the 3rd.
5. Try and get a steal at DE and pass rusher with the rest of the picks
6. After the draft there are going to be some good FA still on the market and we should be able to get two or three for cheap. Targets should be S, CB, WR in that order.

If we somehow land Fields, I think that gives us more ammo than we did previously to get Wilson but at that point, I'm not sure if we do the trade since I think Fields floor is Bridgewater.

1. Trade down with the jets to get their 23rd and first second-rounder.
2. Draft Northwestern's LT Rashawn Slater with the 23rd
3. In the second take Trask and Kadarious Tooney (or Bateman)
4. RD 3:take Shaun Wade (CB)
5. Via Miller trade, take Walker Little OT, in the 4th
6. Take pass rushers for the rest of the draft (unless someone unexpected drops)
7. Cut wims, Weah, Ives, and Davis. Afterward we should have about 7-8 in cap
8. Sign Malik Hooker (2.5m). Injuries is his only issue. He's shown he can play at a high level when on the field. Could be the biggest steal in FA but if it does become that, he'll probably be a 1-year rental because he'll get a huge contract next offseason. There's also a strong possibility he just resigns with the Colts so I'd have Gibson, Joseph and Sendejo would be might top back up options but there are a lot of Safety options still there.
9.Sign AJ Bouye (2.5m): He's still an above-average CB and he has experience in the system. He and Trufant can compete for the CB2 spot and with Trufant's injury problems he adds some security. Casey Heyward may still be available as well but I don't think. There are also a lot of SCB options still left out there too as back up plans
10. Golden Tate (or another vet WR) 2m
11. Olivier Vernon 660k. I we make it to the playoffs he should be ready and effective.
12. I don't see us moving on from Hicks unless a team offers a good pick for him. I think he would have been cut to sign Golloday but at this point there's no one worth signing if it means cutting Hicks. Unless of course, they decide to cut hicks and no one else which is probably option 1 for pace instead of cutting two or three WRs.

Go into the season with
Dalton/Trask/Foles
Robinson, Mooney, Tate, Tooney
Kmet, Graham
Monty,Cohen,Williams
Leno, Daniels, Mustipher, Whitehair, Slater
Hicks,Goldman,Nicols
Mack,Smith,Trevathan,Quinn
Johnson,Bouye,Trufant
Jackson,Hooker

That team is a playoff team and if Nagy can be consistent as a coach I think the offense will be good enough to average about 24/25 PPG and with this defense that could compete for the Division Title.

1) the bears moved up a single spot
2) they didn't necessarily have to to get trubisky
3) there were two other similarly rated QBs on the board

doesn't mean that the niners didn't give up too much, but the situations aren't particularly comparable

Eh, a 2022 2nd is like a 3rd this year.

there's no time value of money concept in play when it comes to draft picks. in fact, given the trajectory of this team, i'd RATHER have a 2nd rounder next year than a 2nd rounder this year

I think the bears should make a lot of moves to acquire picks on draft day
1. Trade Hicks for a 4th or 5th round pick. I think the Broncos would be ideal partners. Also, trading him instead of cutting saves more money I think.

2. Trade Miller for whatever we can get, best case scenario would be a 4th but most likely a 5th. Eagles might make the trade

3. Trade down with the jags to get their RD1/25, RD2/45, and RD4/130

4. Assuming Fields or Lance drops I think the Falcons will want to make a move back into the 1st so we should trade the 25th for their RD2/35, RD3/68, 2022 1st and 2022 5th

I think at least one of Lance, Fields, or Mond will be there for us to take at 35 and definitely Trask. I don't like Lance but they could be used as trade pieces later on to get Wilson.

After those trades I'd like to see the draft go like this

RD2/35: Best QB available (hopefully Fields)
RD2/45: Alex Leatherwood, OT
RD2/53: Kadarious Toney, WR
RD3/84: Shaun Wade, CB
RD4/114 (from broncos): Rondale Moore, WR
RD4/130: Jamie Newman, QB
RD5/150 (from Eagles): Kuony Deng, OLB
RD5/164: Bobby Brown III, DE
RD6/204: Tuf Borland, ILB
RD6/208: Deontay Anderson, S
RD6/221: Ryan Van Demark, OT
RD6/228: Wyatt Hubert, 3-4

Then we make a couple of cuts and added to the cap of trading Hicks and Miller and I hope they still redo Graham's contract to a 4m cap hit

Resign Gibson
Sign Dez Bryant: He'll be cheap and effective in his role plus we need size in our WR corps
Sign AJ Bouye: He has familiarity in our system and with the injury concerns with our corners he'd be a solid pick up who can play either SCB or CB2
Sign Aldon Smith: Mack needs a lot of help and Smith had a great season and he'll be cheap given his past
Sign Kawann Short: He's low rick, high reward. He's been injured recently so he'll be cheap. At best he'll be healthy and can return to form at worst he'll be a good rotation player

post June 1: Trade Dalton, the QB taken in RD 2, our two 2022 1sts, 2023 1st and a couple of later picks for Wilson

Mac Jones continues to look bad in his workouts I guess.

Probably an unfortunate coincidence, but this is pretty funny.

Kellen Mond has Pace with Mitch Fever.

I would trade back in the first round for more picks and use a second round pick on him. I trust Simms eye more than Pace's.

If Mond is available in round 2 I wouldn’t be opposed to drafting him. Compact release, good arm strength. His problem is the deep ball and reading the field a bit. He is the guy I’ve stated for weeks that I would target. Not saying he is the answer, but I’d draft a QB almost every year if I could.

He sounds like Mitch Trubisky. And Nagy wants to be vertical too in the pass game. Why would you draft him?
