The hate Porzingis is getting is WAY overblown. We’re talking about a 7’3 center that can do it all - at 25 years old. There is no doubt - Vucevic is more talented and has a cleaner medical report, but at 31 years old, how many good years does he have left? Maybe 3-4 years?

Are the Bulls going to beat the Brooklyn Nets over the next 3-4 years? Meh. Fast-forward a couple years and the current stars will be out of the league and the Bulls will be able to ship out multiple firsts again to find their third star next to KP and LaVine. (Maybe by then the Paw will develop)

I doubt the Bulls make this type of trade, but these KP trade proposals (for expirings) are ludicrous. No way Dallas does something like that. Why would they?

This deal makes sense for the Bulls if they can’t find a way to add a third piece for the upcoming season. It creates a larger contention window right when the power teams fall off. What other teams would be as set as the Bulls in 3-4 years?

I follow your logic, I just have never liked KP. Aside from his injury concerns, he is far from a good teammate and he has under performed per his salary. Maybe he turns it around, but he is less athletic this year than last year. His rim protection was gone, he is just a 3p shooter right now. You have more faith in him than I do and no one can see the future but for me I will take Vuc over him (I just threw up in my mouth)

That’s fair. I just see the league opening
up in a couple years, which is why I think there is enough logic to at least think about it. I wonder if AK and Porzingis have a relationship considering where they’re from...

What you’re describing sounds more like a critic of how Rick Carlisle is using KP, not his actual skill-set. Plus, it’s hard to be overly critical for a guy who returned from an injury and then had to deal with a COVID season. Talk about a great buy-low opportunity.

My hits and misses on players are not good LOL. I predicted Elton Brand would be washed out of the league and in 3 years and would have been the worst first overall pick ever. I also thought Tyson Chandler would be a NBA championship type player, which he was but hardly in the way I thought! I think he is better than he was in Dallas this year, but he is a huge question mark in attitude and health. His money rolls deep too. In some ways I think his best fit might be in the rumored trade for Kemba, He might look good in Boston with Tatum and Brown. I think he is a third option though and he is just to frail in the paint. As a center though he can open up the lanes which admittedly would be good for a guy like Zach. All that being said I don't see any really good ways to fix the Bulls either, so maybe KP would be a roll of the dice that works, but I fear watching him move because I gasp that a limb will break all the time LOL.

I’m afraid you are now 0 for 3 if you think KP or Kemba are good options. You did qualify those suggestions, of course, but I don’t see those guys being anything but bad investments.

I like neither of those guys, just saying the rumored KP for Kemba swap might make sense for both of those teams, as Dallas has no use for KP right now and same with Boston and Kemba. That trade falls into the Russ for Wall category, just change of scenery trades.

Why would they? At least one source claims he has zero trade value around the league:

“The trouble here is that the Dallas Mavericks are facing a challenge to make massive changes to the roster. Porzingis has two seasons left, plus a player option for a third year left on his contract, and teams don’t want him if they try to trade him,” O’Connor said on Monday’s episode of “The Void.” “Mark Cuban denied previous reports that the Mavericks shopped Porzingis, but at the least, league sources have told me interest in Porzingis is minimal.

https://nypost.com/2021/06/08/kristaps-porzingis-rumors-mavericks-trade-wont-be-easy/

The current Vegas odds on who will trade for Porzingis:

Boston Celtics: +200
Golden State Warriors: +225
Oklahoma City Thunder: +300
Orlando Magic: +400
Washington Wizards: +500
Chicago Bulls: +600

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I found it interesting that we are on that list. But if the Mavs are interested in Lauri, a Porzingis for Lauri - Sato - Aminu works financially.

According to SI.com, the Mavs certainly could use someone like Sato:

DALLAS - Entering the NBA offseason, the Dallas Mavericks face a need to bolster the supporting cast around Luka Doncic. Among their needs is a secondary ball handler who can help shoulder the load while Doncic is on the floor while also leading the unit when he's on the sidelines.

The same article also pointed out how little KP was used in the playoffs:

Kristaps Porzingis is reportedly frustrated with his role and was used less and less throughout the playoffs; he had a 26.5 usage rate in the regular season, and it dropped to a career-low 16.2 in the playoffs.

gobullschi wrote:Just throwing out an unconventional trade proposal based on the idea of keeping Markkanen on the Bulls long-term. What if the Bulls moved Vucevic & Sato for Porzingis, Brunson, & Green?

Brunson is a Chicago guy who could run point guard, Green gives the Bulls some needed depth at wing, & Porzingis brings some more rim protection and matches up with the Bull’s timeline (age) better than Vucevic (31).

Going the younger route lines up better with guys like LeBron, Durant, Harden, & Curry getting older.

Jalen Brunson / Coby White
Zach LaVine / Troy Brown Jr.
Patrick Williams / Josh Green / Al-Farouq Aminu
Lauri Markkanen / Thaddeus Young
Kristaps Porzingis / Daniel Theis

So we’re essentially turning 2 lightly protected first rounders, WCJ and Sato into a huge negative asset, a backup point guard (who needs an extension btw) and a nobody while also taking on Aminu‘s salary in the process?

…cool cool cool…

What did you expect? Any trade proposal which is "based on the idea of keeping Markkanen on the Bulls long-term" is probably going to be a bad idea.

There is also literally no way in hell that AKME trades Vuc for KP. If he wanted to do that, he could have just cut out the middle man -because I have no doubt that Cuban would have jumped all over a "KP for exactly what we gave the Magic" deal.

I would have no problem with a Lauri - Sato - Aminu for KP and Brunson deal. Brunson makes the minimum next season, at the very least we'd get a year to decide if he's someone we would want to keep long-term.
