There isn't a perfect route. You lose good players and draft picks like we did w/ our sign n trades this offseason. If you try the cap room route like we did in the "Decision" off season you run the risk of gutting your roster for nothing.
This offseason had we struck out with DDR, Ball, and every other big free agent then at least we could have kept our depth, draft capitol , and signed a couple more quality rotation guys and competed. We'd have been a bottom 3 team if we cut / stretched our guys then came away with nothing.
