It does please me though that Grayson Allen is falling flat on his punchy face in embarrassing fashion .

Middleton is an All-Star, and he was huge for them on the way to the Championship last season. He is a massive missing piece for them right now - a two way player no less.

I love Tatum I really do. but him and Zach are similar in that they both aren't always the smartest. Tatum is clearly > Zach overall but he still isn't the man yet. I keep having faith in him though because he has the IT factor. He just needs more consistency. We were ruined by Jordan he had it every damn night

To me, Tatum though he is a great player, isn't a superstar in my books, he is too inconsistent. There are games where he absolutely vanishes, and a superstar in my books contributes in other ways even when they aren't scoring and are consistent. He is a little too up and down in my books.

Memphis has to be disciplined enough offensively to continue attacking the paint, don't get in a 3 point shootout with Golden State. Warriors don't have the size to stop Memphis inside.

How are the grizz doing this? Literally missing Ja and taking GSW to game 7

Because Golden State is too small to guard them in the paint and keep them off the boards, Golden State has no answer for JJJ and Clarke. And Bane, Brooks, Melton and Tyus can all get it going from 3.

MEM doing great staying close. I feel like any other team would have gotten overwhelmed already with the way GS started.

The teams that are left are nothing but high percentage high attempt 3pt teams. It sort of creates that anomaly of just getting hot to steal a game.

You just need to have a great hub and a great amount of 3pt shooters that can get hot. That seems to be the formula.

If it wasn't for Klay, the Warriors would be getting blown out due to all their turnovers

Golden St has been historically a high turnover team though.

You can run the small ball lineups when you have a front court of Iggy, Durant and Draymond. Iggy and KD's length along with Dray allowed Golden State to hold their own in the paint and on the boards and explode offensively. But now with Poole and Wiggins instead it just ain't the same, far less length and ability to rebound and defend the paint and it's all left to Dray. Mike Brown trying to adjust by playing Looney and Bjelica more.

Credit to Mike Brown for going bigger with Looney. 21 rebounds and helping Golden State finally protect the paint a little.

JJJ 5-for-17
Clarke 1-for-8
Tyus 2-for-12

Not gonna cut it for Memphis.

Memphis are a bunch of ballers though. They are leaders of the West for the foreseeable future. Good series.

I wonder if Memphis is going to go into the tax. Ja and JJJ are obviously the cornerstones, but will they be able to afford to keep Bane, Brooks, Clarke when they're up? Memphis has so much depth they can afford to lose a few guys, but Bane, Brooks and Clarke will be interesting to see if Memphis decides to pay them as well along with Ja and JJJ.

It's a Make 3 or MIss 3 league. Consider Game 4 of Miami vs. Philly.. Miami was the better team on the night. Got off 14 more shots than did Philly, made 66% of its 2 point attempts (yep), outrebounded Philly (only slightly), had fewer turnovers. And lost the game by 8 because it went 7 for 35 on 3s, while Philly was 16 for 33.

It's no concidence that this season's 2nd round was one of the few times ever that all series went to at least 6 games, because when 3s matter that much, and making 3s is so highly variable, that gives inferior teams a greater chance of stealing a game -- and perhaps even a series.

I absolutely agree with you about the importance of the 3 pointer now. But actually in this specific Memphis/Golden State game Clarke went 2-for-10 on all inside shots. Tyus was 2-for-12 and only took 3 threes. JJJ was 5-for-19, 4-for-12 on non threes. Memphis had been scoring at will on Golden State in the paint on their small ball lineup. Mike Brown playing Looney more and giving Golden State some actual size and rim protection clearly changed the game and those easy points in the paint Clarke, JJJ and Tyus had been getting were no more. Clarke especially, he lived off offensive rebounds and putbacks and high percentage shots and was 2-for-10 on all inside shots.

Is JJJ a cornerstone though? 4 years into his career, and he's only averaging 16/6, and playing only 27 mpg. The last two years he's shot around 42% and 30% on 3's. That doesn't seem like a player you'd want to give a max contract to.

is a sunday doubleheader really better ratings than having the suns/mavs play today? the WCF could then start a day earlier too
