How long until the Bulls actually fully commit to a rebuild?

I get that Zach and Vuc needed their stock built up after last season, but having them is hurting the rebuild (if that's what FO is going to do).

Absolutely pointless sitting where we are now as a possible play-in team, and potentially lose out Top 10 protected Pick next year.

Surely in a few weeks time (after 15 Dec) we start to look at making some moves.

I'd look to move Vuc, Lavine and Coby and truly blow it up ASAP..

Give the play making reigns to Giddey (so he can either earn that extension or not). He's stuck in the middle at the moment, when he's not had a great start, he's off the court or deferring to Zach, Coby). Yes, he's had some bad games, but the team is not built for him to have success (and I'm not saying build around him), but you must have some better defensive bigs and wings on the court. He's still 21, so he will improve at things.

Get time into Matas..let him make mistakes and stay on the court. He's shown flashes, but has a lot to learn. Get him on the court to fast track that improvement.

Ayo has been pretty good for the most part. Let him continue to develop, along with Tery and Phillips

There's plenty to look about this incoming draft class, so stop winning games to end up in the meaningless middle and actually get a high draft pick to build on.

The Bulls aren't rebuilding and I highly doubt this current front office will commit to one, they're just putting on band-aid after band-aid to keep this team treading water so they look fun and competitive despite there being no future.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bulls get a top pick in this draft and then trade it for some 28-30yo 'star'. This front office and the owners want play-in/playoff revenue.

There'll be no rebuild whilst AKME are in charge.

Never.

Team is always going to seek some form of relevance. Krause had a ton of capital to allow him to tank and its not going to recur.

The simple answer is when Michael Reinsdorf decides to hire a new VP of basketball and matching GM. AKME had a plan when they were hired April 2020, Billy Donovan became available and he was 200 X the coach Jim Boylan was so the plan was not to have Billy teach a kiddie corps but try to win. They made their pick, they made the trade for Vucevic which seemed like a high price but all in. OK they moved Lauri who blossomed finally, but Ball, DeRozan and Caruso should have made things happen.

There was no way to guess that Lonzo would barely play, or that Zach would keep getting injured and we're where we are now, thinking the play in is a possibility. I hate that being the goal.

So if they can't even reach the play in this year you can't let Karnasovas try to adjust what they've got another time. You just can't trust AK to trade any more picks, giving up the 3 he did has proven a disaster. If Reinsdorf decides they need a bigger rebuild there's no way you keep AK around to try his hand at that because there's no evidence he can do that either.

Not this year. Maybe.

I think AK has been resistant to go that direction for job security reasons, but I think there's a real chance he may realize that his chances for lasting 2 more seasons is actually higher if he tries it after this season.

This VP comes from Denver. They don’t tank intentionally.

Raptors, Minnesota, and Chicago

I have no faith that this FO will ever do it. It’s a kind of torture for me. Some sort of punishment for something I did years ago, probably.

The Bulls are currently the 10th seed, which is in fact a play-in spot.

I don't think we are good enough to be a play-in team, but Philly is failing and other teams have been as average as us, so we are CURRENTLY is that position.

I'd rather be last in the league with a plan for the future, than sitting 7-12th just trying to get in the playoffs.

I understand that is what ownership has wanted, but it's a shite philosophy.

The Bulls have played 20 games which is in fact only a quarter of the season.

So 10th right now is meaningless.

It was probably that time you wished that your wife's 18-year-old dog would finally die instead of peeing all over your house. And by "you", I definitely don't mean "me". I'm sorry, I've cursed the Bulls for all eternity. It was so much pee though.

So how can you say, only a quarter of the season in, with certainty that the Bulls aren't a play-in team?

Because we give up 140 points......

They have committed to a rebuild. They just think / know that the best currently available trades won't necessarily accelerate the rebuild. The OP mentioned Zach, Vuc and Coby. Coby is obviously young enough, and good enough, to be part of our team long term. So there's nothing to "blow up" with him. Vuc is 10 games from being untradable, during which he's put up great offensive numbers but atrocious defense. Even if we took nothing back in trade for him, which is impossible, it's not obvious that Smith and even Sanogo taking his minutes makes us worse. Zach is playing quite well, was basically untradable for value this summer, and is young enough to be part of a rebuild anyway.

Maybe I’m crazy, but seems like trading vuc would make us much worse on offense. He was a huge part of several of our wins. Jalen is good, but I don’t think he will make up for that - also, going the Vuc/Jalen to Jalen/Sanogo seems like an obvious downgrade on offense and not an obvious improvement on D

It would most definitely be an obvious improvement on defense.
