Windhorst: Bulls are talking to Suns about Bradley Beal? Update page 4: Beal rejects us

Post#1 » by Evil_Headband » Mon Jan 27, 2025 5:08 pm

Brian Windhorst: The Bulls right now are absolutely involved in conversations with the Suns involving the possible Jimmy Butler trade situation. It’s not that Jimmy Butler would end in Chicago, but they would get involved in the trade. Look I know this is going to get aggregated, I don’t know what to say, like if I’m talking about a three-team trade and Jimmy Butler is on one end, and it’s not going to Chicago, we’re talking about Bradley Beal, because the Suns can only trade Bradley Beal.

Lots of stuff to talk about this: Bulls potentially not rebuilding, Beal's no trade clause (does the Beal-Donovan connection matter here?), what besides Zach would go out, what draft compensation might go the Bulls' way, etc.

Not even worth speculating on to me

Either because it'll never happen, or we're all too apathetic to care

Those Suns FRPs are going to suck (bottom of the draft). Beal’s total salary left is like, over $25M more than Lavine’s. I would’ve wanted that 2031 unprotected, not these diluted least valuable swaps they have. On top of that, the no-trade clause.

If this trade happens cause of some lobbying on Donovan’s end, then it will be the final nail in the coffin. Disastrous coaching, development, player evaluation. Zach is playing way better than Beal right now. The compensation to make this trade has to be immense, and the Suns pick(s) aren’t enough.

Are we seriously trying to stay on the tank on purpose?

That's what it's beginning to look like.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Yeah why not. Let's trade our best player, who is better, and even less expensive, than Beal for Beal and a meaningless draft pick.

Would be par for the course.

This trade can't happen because of Donovan. Donovan might be on board with Beal coming here but that's a minor issue. He doesn't have the power to make these decisions.

It would make absolutely no sense. If there is an our from Beal's contract somehow before Lavine's expires then maybe.

Only way this makes any sense is if it’s part of a trade to send Lavine to Miami and butler to phoenix with additional draft capital from the heat

He can lobby for players, and we don’t really know how influential he is or isn’t. Normally a coach in his position would’ve been fired by now.

Beal is older and probably better late game manager. I think it’s a slight upgrade than Lavine.

Makes no sense for 2 of the 3 teams. Just nonsense that the Phoenix Suns are hoping two teams in the NBA just does them a favor while they give up basically the equivalent of 3 second rounders to get rid of one of the worst contracts in modern NBA history.

Obviously there's no gain for Chicago, but why does Miami do it. They're one of the few teams that have no use for Lavine because of Herro.

There is a Zach trade thread. Why does this need its own thread? Nothing is close to happening. Its all speculation.

I would disagree. There isn't any indication that the front office or the players are unsatisfied with Donovan, besides that one incident with Zach. We're a mediocre roster and we're getting mediocre results so I don't believe we are underperforming.

If the management and players don't have an issue with the coach then it's likely he'll stay until the end of his contract.

If Beal agrees, I totally could see this happening. Beal becomes the DeRozan type mentor for the young guys, the Bulls get some picks for future trades and maybe also offload a bad contract.
