Great deal for us, that's 20% under the average salary lol.

Its a hometown discount so sure. As long as it is somewhat protected.

A strange time to do it but it’s a fair contract.
Gives Lonzo some immediate short term security and Ball at his current impact is definitely worth that amount. You’d expect his shooting numbers to improve and trade value to increase the longer he plays without an injury.
If things go pear shaped, it’s a short term contract during a period whether cap space won’t be at a premium on our roster.

I like it. Lonzo is easy to root for, smart player and is playing really well all things considered. Potential flip in the future as well.

Very hard to complain about this signing. And the timing is perfect. Now we can more aggressively shop guys like Giddey, Coby and/or Ayo to see what's out there. Ball doesn't solve all our problems, but it's a solid deal. I'm pleased.

Re: Bulls sign Lonzo Ball to 2 year, $20 million extension
That can be a steal if he can stay healthy, play big minutes, and improve his efficiency. Even if he gets injured again and can't play, $10M per year for two years isn't much to worry about. I won't use the phrase "easily moveable" which seems to be a Bulls fandom favorite, but it's a low-risk signing.

Re: Bulls sign Lonzo Ball to 2 year, $20 million extension
His FG% looks really bad but he's shot mostly threes, so his shooting, which has been his only shortcoming this season, isn't nearly as bad as it looks at a glance. I think he's a bit overrated as a playmaker, but he sure does make the right passes, is a very good ball handler, and I still consider him an excellent 3 position defender, his greatest strength.

Free agency in summer 2026 has a lot of potential for us

I’ll withhold judgment until post deadline. If Vuc and Coby are still here, I’m going to like this a lot less.

Honestly I hate this, he makes them better, beyond that he is another leg injury away from not walking...i just wanted to move on as much as he has "been playing good" this year, I wonder how long it will last.

Moneywise it's fine, but why ? We need to be gutting this thing to the studs.

Maybe to increase his trade value? He could be a guy to flip for a late 1st at next year's deadline.

That’s a good number and should be tradeable if need be down the line.
I wonder if this is a hedge against extending Giddey.
