Which front office would you rather have running this team?

Post#1 » by nomorezorro » Thu Feb 6, 2025 11:50 pm

(note: don't count the good early paxson years for garpax. only the era where gar had considerable influence and paxson resented having to do any work.)

i don't think anyone thought this would be a debate 5 years ago, but we've had a lot of time to see how arturas karnisovas builds an nba roster, and the question feels worth asking: would you rather have him run this team, or would you rather restore power to his predecesors, john paxson and gar forman?

When do we fire up the gofundme page for a #HireGarPax billboard?

If AKME gets 1 vote and only 1 vote at least we'll know who it is.

Dig the FireGarPax billboard out of the scrap heap and paint an H over the F. It would save on funds in these trying times.

GarPax did a couple of things well. No bad apples or players demanding to be traded and solid stable players. Hinrch, Deng, Noah, Boozer, Ben Gordon before his problems. Just like having Lonzo get hurt, they had DRose go down and nothing was right after that.

Give me GarPax back. Every AK move is like watching PWill drive to the hoop from the top of the key. You just know he's gonna lose the ball somewhere before he gets there, and then every so often he actually makes it. Not the sort of drama I'm looking for from the FO (or Pat).

Just John Paxson. No Gar, when he came in, he started ruining everything.

I never expected I'd be missing the GarPax era, yet here I am. At this point I'd take most NBA FOs over ours

This franchise is in considerably worse shape now than when they took over. They had Zach on an absolute bargain of a contract , Coby with 3 years left on his rookie deal, Markkanen with a year left on his, and the #4 pick in the upcoming draft. Didn't have a draft surplus , but also didn't owe any future 1sts either.

Now our only young guy with any kind of value is Buzelis ,and maybe Jalen Smith but hard to see when he barely gets any minutes to show it. Coby perhaps. Just now finally being debt-free on 1st rounders, until we probably unload another batch for guys like PG and Randle ! Not for real needle movers and young stud 23 year old bigs like the Lakers do. Nah. Let's blow our wads on B-listers that might get us an 8 seed one of these days.

Paxson. He may not have been the best at completing trades (he did make some good ones), but his overall drafting ability was much better.

GarPax were bad at the end but at least they valued draft picks. It feels like AK just adds them to trades. Plus his draft picks so far haven't been good minus Buzi Vert. Missing on LaRavia/Kessler for Dalen Terry still makes me upset. The Williams picks is even worse considering all the other options available.

This isn't even close GarPax knew how to draft within limited failures. They also tried to make some trades to better their teams every so often. They often put together top 5ish teams that fell apart due to injuries. My thing with them was they were here too long, they got 4 chances at rebuilds and each of the times found themselves in the same situation of rebuilding again after injury woes, I also think they were the greatest with their coaching hires (Boylan, Boylen, Del Negro, Hoiberg all some of the worst coaches in team history)

AKME has done nothing, taken mediocre talent, added more mediocre talent and stayed mediocre, yes sure we got hit with the Lonzo injury but I for one never "fully" bought in to that team being top level, I just think they got hot at the right time to start the season. AKME is utter chaos and terrible at their jobs.

Why is "death" not a 3rd option?

This isn't even a debate. At this point I would take Elon Musks backpacking AI Code nerds over AKME.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

I also think GarPax probably drafts Haliburton instead of PW because they liked players from Iowa. That one move would've changed everything.
