Chicago Bulls waived Windy City center Adama Sanogo, he got injured and will be out for at least a month.

And of course as Bulls need more guards, they signed Jahmir Young, 24yrs old 6'1 PG.

After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, Young joined the Denver Nuggets G-League affiliate Grand Rapids Gold.

Young has averaged 22.4 points, 7.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2 steals a game with the Gold this season.

Whoever is picking our two way players has no idea what they're doing.

If Sanogo got injured it makes sense to move him aside. Now Young may be the 11th guard deep, but it's only for a few months. Consider the possibility that they signed him to a two way deal as a favor to his agent who also represents somebody the Bulls have an interest in so they give Young a couple of months on a guaranteed deal.

Yeah, I'm baffled. But there really won't be any minutes this season for any 2 way guys. Whatever happened to Liberty. He seemed like an NBA talent.

It's really hard to complain about 2-way guys since almost all of them never become meaningful NBA players. Max Strus was the best of them for the Bulls. Too bad he got hurt.

For us yes. But we need to be much better at this.

Complain? Yes. It does matter that we don’t seem to use the contracts on guys who, theoretically, fit team needs and are capable of playing current day NBA basketball. It only takes one to hit as a bench guy for it to matter.

Complain loudly? No. The opportunity cost is low given the likelihood of success with any such player, so it’s a minor issue. The issue is its another example of the larger problem: widespread incompetence.

I liked Sanogo. Doubt he will become a rotation player in the nba but I think he can contribute. Only played more than ten minutes once for us and had a 22 and 20 game. Was very successful in college. Never understood why so many fans hated him. One of the more interesting two way players we've had IMO.

Bulls have their own G league team but pick up from other teams instead ? That’s not right.

Sanogo definitely deserved a bit more opportunities to show what he can do but honestly never really saw any future for him here.

A 24 year old guard who can score but can’t shoot a lick? Clearly never going to make it in the NBA so is it purely a G league move?

The Bulls are always rumored to be doing favors for agents to gain favor. Yet we never sign anyone of substance, so I'm not sure that strategy is worth continuing. More than likely FO is just clueless on talent evaluation.

These G League guys aren't going to play, so why does it matter what their position is? Signing the guy who our scouts believe has the best chance to become a viable NBA player regardless of their position is the smart move.

At least it would be if I had any faith in our scouting and player development department.

Because athletically and skill-wise he is an obvious non-NBA talent. He might have been able to carve out an NBA career in the 90s or 2000s, but what's the difference between him and say Luke Schenscher, who struggled to stick 20 years ago?

He's fine for what he was: a seldom used break-in-case of emergency depth big, but I'd like to use those two-way spots to find actual contributors.

We're 8 years in to the two-way contract era and it seems like we're the only organization that hasn't found a rotation player out of them. I believe Ryan Arcidiacono has been our best find, and he's literally last man on the roster quality. Max Strus if we're being very, very generous.

I don't remember Luke well. Did he also dominate the NCAA tournament and then put up a 22 and 20 game the first time he ever got non garbage minutes in an NBA game?

I don't understand why it would be expected or desirable to turn two-way contract guys into contributors. They are 4th string players essentially. First and second string are contributors (because they are the guys that play). Then NBA rosters have an entire 3rd string of full time active players that should be better than their two-way guys. It's nice if a team can find a diamond in the rough or develop a guy into a real player, but if that happens, it probably speaks just as poorly about how they chose their first 15 guys than it does about any virtue in talent development of their two-way guys.

I like Sanogo but I won't miss him and generally couldn't care less about two-way players. I don't think the nba should have two-way deals. Way too many guys IMO. 12 man rosters would be more than fine with me. 14 or 15 is certainly plenty.

I think 2-way guys can be a very useful way to find talent outside of the draft. It's just that we can't seem to do it well (theme noted).

I think I disagree, in the sense that esp for Bulls, 2Ways should be on guys you think can bust out. Whatever position. Grabbing guys because of a positional lack for a crap team is pointless.

That’s not to say Jahmir Young is a good get, but his g league stats suggest there’s a chance he can bust out, pretty sure that wasn’t the case w Sanogo.
