They are sort of at the point of Orlando last year. But to tell you the truth, the biggest single difference from last year to this year is Malik Beasley.

Detroit isnt really a 3pt team. They are middle of the pack. But Beasley is #1 in the league in 3s. On a team that doesnt have alot of shooters, him being that lethal of a shooter is a great mix for them.

Nice to see Bulls West playing well, a victory in Houston last night, that's a quality win. Unfortunately Sabonis suffered a hammy injury, hope that will not be a playoff problem.

Beating Houston without Sabonis is a huge W, glad for Deebo & Zach. Those two still have that random upset quality that marked the Bulls last few years.

Kai Jones was released by the Clippers and signed to Dallas before I could get in here and start my annual "sign Kai Jones" campaign

In reality however, I think Ty Lue is one of the better coaches in the NBA. If he's willing to move on from the Kai Jones experiment, it's probably not going to ever click then for someone who is one of the most athletic players in the entire NBA and has such a unique skill set.

I am perpetually amused at NBA narratives. This year, it's been the awesomeness of Russ for Denver, accompanied by a bunch of gloating YouTube videos about how Russ detractors knew nothing.

The numbers below convert any partial records into a full record, meaning how the team would have performed over 82 games under that condition.

Russ unavailable in 2025 - 82 wins (Denver is 7-0)
Denver 2024 (Russ also unavailable) - 57 wins
Russ starts in 2024 - 54 wins
Russ comes off the bench in 2024 - 39 wins

So yeah, Denver has done better with him starting than off the bench. But it was better last year without him at all, and is better this year as well. Factor in Russ's meh shooting (54% true shooting %) and it's pretty clear that he's just not very important to Denver. That team is Jokic plus a bunch of overrated nothingburgers. On PER (an imperfect stat but still instructive), Zach, Vuc, and Jalen Smith (!) are better this year than any Nugget not named Nikola.

The story of Denver is one guy carrying a team of underachievers to what will likely be a second-round playoff loss. Russ, schmuss.

Glad we didn't do the MPJ deal!

He's a two-trick pony. Can convert open shots and he rebounds pretty well. After that, nah. As we learned with Zach and DDR (who are both better than MPJ), you can collect as many guys like that as you wish, and that won't make you a winner. MPJ is the type of guy you get once the main pieces are in place.

Drummond doing us a solid carrying the Sixers (16/11) against the Trailblazers in the first half. Gonna need Philly to snag some wins here.

nvm the Philly tank is too strong

If Philly wins the lottery and Flagg, Silver needs to step in.

Utah shut down half their roster against the Pels to secure the tank win the other night. They could have been tied in the standings had Utah won. It was a huge tank win for them.

I don't think Silver gives a rat's ass.

If Bulls are really in the tank game for their players, just do this.

Vooch - Day to day (Leg) evaluated in 2 weeks.
Coby - Out (wrist/thumb) evaluated in 2 weeks.
Zo - Day to Day (wrist/Rest)
PWill - Out due to knee soreness the rest of the season.

We at least got the memo on Ayo and just let him get the surgery now.

That would be how you effectively tank. It wont work every game, but it will lower the chances of a really solid game beating teams you don't want to.

Heck even the Jazz who tried their hardest to tank and rolled out guys you have never heard of, still nearly pulled it off against the Pels. So its still a crap shoot.

JT Thor and MarJon Beauchamp are the type of reclamation project players that AK should be targeting, not these G-League nobodies that have barely played in the league, if at all.

It's probably too late to properly tank (but I think they should still try). Who will pass the Bulls in the standings? At best Philly and Brooklyn, but I doubt that will happen.

What a steal and assist for Daniels tonight.

Never seen a steal buzzer beater bucket like that.

Too late for JT Thor. The Wizards just picked him up.

EDIT: Beauchamp is gone too. https://nypost.com/2025/03/03/sports/knicks-sign-former-first-rounder-marjon-beauchamp-to-two-way-deal/
