AKME's Best Moves?

I know, this is a tough one. Some rules:
-I have to choose 10
-No options of moves not made like trading Vuc this deadline (we don't know the offers)
-No hindsight, at the time of the move
Please vote for 3

They've definitely made good moves, no doubt about it. Actually, the # of moves which count as "good" or "bad" is about equal.
It's just the bad moves, so far, have been more damaging than the good moves have been beneficial
I voted signing Caruso, trading for Giddy (looks like a brilliant move at the moment-we'll see) and drafting Matas (a no-brainer, but other teams passed)

Re-signing Coby White - Obvious team-friendly contract when compared to what Herro and Poole got at the time. 12M AAV vs 30M AAV.
Signing Caruso - Key member of a championship team signed with the MLE. Caruso was also showing noticeable improvement on offense compared to say DJJ who got paid by the Blazers after the Heat made the finals.
Rebuilding - Signing Lonzo and Caruso as complements to Demar and Zach worked. Refusing to pivot in another direction after learning the severity of Lonzo's injury and the team playing .500 ball without him is the issue.

Today I have to say drafting Buzelis. Didn't seem like there were real gems to be found 10+ but Matas has skills, most need a lot of refining but he's got confidence at this level even if he's not really ready.
I think resigning Lonzo Ball will prove out to be great. He's the PG who can shoot the 3, he's got court awareness and BB IQ that the Bulls have lacked except for Caruso of late. I think he's the leader who steadies the ship. You see what happens in the games he's out. With the roster the Bulls have to finish the season any minor injury guys can and are sitting out 2,3 extra games because others can take the minutes to show who they are.
The Lavine trade has the potential to be memorable. Yes the #1 thing was getting the pick back, hopefully AK has seen the error of giving up that pick and the 2 in the Vuc trade and won't repeat it. To have a steady flow of rookies coming in is going to push the veterans to play like veterans and be leaders. But Huerter looks like he did in ATL when they had a pretty good team that came up shot and got broken up twice. Most of those players are still in the league and contributing. Huerter can't match Zach's scoring but he shows up stronger on defense, offensive rebounding, fewer turnovers. Collins has looked as good as he ever has, he can split time with Smith for 2-3 years to keep the center spot from being a need. And the Bulls don't need a center back when they trade Vuc so they can make a better deal. If they can bring back Jones he's a passing ball handling PG who can score. That's something the Bulls haven't had for a while and he compliments the guys they likely keep. If they get someone very good with the pick and hang onto the 3 veterans they got a 2-5 year haul for Zach.

If hindsight is not a factor, trading for Lonzo was an excellent move. The full trade was
Lonzo <--> Satoransky, Temple, 2nd rounder
If Lonzo had played his normal 55 games per season, that was a steal for a 23 year old with his talents.
Hell, even with his 2 years missing that's still not the worst trade...Sato is a fringe NBA player. Sato went back to Europe I believe.
I think top 3 for me (no hindsight):
- Signing AC
- Trading for Lonzo on the cheap
- Trading for Giddey (versus trading AC's expiring for NY's 25th pick)

I chose rebuilding a team quickly and getting them to first place. I really struggled to find two more, so I went with drafting Matas and Ayo by default.

I voted for signing Jalen Smith, resigning coby white, and trading for Giddey because those are the moves that have led to perhaps the best assets on the team. For ease of comparison im removing Buzalis as "too early to qualify" although I do like the pick.
But breaking your rules about hindsight, I think over his tenure the best move AKME made was trading for Demar Derozan to finish off what for 50ish games was a formidable team. The move was creative, it was questioned at the time, but AKME were right - DD turned out to be an integral part of the team and big reason why it worked. until Lonzos knee imploded.

Zach Lavine for Huerter, Jones, Collins, and our pick back.

His best move is signing Caruso (which also lead to Giddey for those of you who picked that move).
In five years time that's his best move. Kind of sad.

Drafting Buzelis as it gives the bulls some sort of hope for the future.

Rebuilding a team becoming the first seed is very disingenuous, it was like 30 games and not sustainable.

1. Signing Caruso
2. Signing Lonzo (the injury failure was in fate’s hands)
3. Drafting Matas - TBD
Signing Demar in isolation was a great move. The end result of having to dump Zach to get that pick back entirely voided any notion that it was a worthwhile move.
The Zach trade is kind of tricky. It was right to make it, and the return was fine for the times, but the decision to hold him for 4Y and max him ended up being a blunder.

Resigning doesn't count as a good move from his perspective

If Wemby was in Dallas that might work.

I knew who the creator of this thread was before I even clicked on it...
I'm choosing Buzelis and only Buzelis, because the rest are meh or not entirely correct. The year they were in "1st place in the East", they ended up in 6th place.

Best move:
Signing Caruso - Used the MLE and got a player worth two 1st round picks at his peak.
Potentially great move:
Trading for Giddey - We'll see what happens here in the long run, but there is a chance this could be an amazing move if Giddey's last month ends up being legit rather than a flash in the pan. That said plenty of reasons why this might ultimately not work out too.
Good moves if you look at surface, but a deeper look probably not so much credit is due:
Drafting Ayo - Was #1 on the board for like 10 picks before we took him
Drafting Matas - Was mocked at #5 pretty consistently and fell a bunch for no reason
Resigning Coby - The Bulls only kept Coby because they couldn't find a taker for him and had benched him to start the season and only kept / started playing him because he played so well, then he broke out even mor post signing. Nothing about what happened here screams plan, it all screams dumb luck
Trading for DeMar - Kind of seemed good because DeMar played wo well, but we gave up a 1st and a player that was moved for another 1st, didn't experience much success despite DeMar's great play, and eventually moved him for a 2nd.
Solid Moves overall:
Signing Jalen Smith - Feels like he's much better than the amount we play him.
Extending Ayo - Could have maybe squeezed him harder, but contract seems fine.
Signing various vet min guys: Andre Drummond, Torey Craig, THT, have all been decent vet min guys

Easily signing Caruso. Loved the Lonzo signing too, but looking back at it, it should've been somewhat alarming how it easy it was to get him via S&T.
