So we can still host the first play-in game depending on how us and Atlanta do in these last 2 games right? I assume we'll be trying to win as opposed to resting guys????

If I’m not mistaken, we are currently hosting it against the Heat. However, if we jump Atlanta, we will be the road team against the Magic.

The applicable tie-breaker is conference record, and the Hawks beat the Bulls there.

Yeah so it's pointless unless we win last 2 and they lose last 2

We're hosting the 9/10 game as long as we're ahead of Miami. I assume we'll play our starters to keep the 9th seed over playing on the road (although we've been a better road team). MIA will almost certainly win their last 2 (NOP, WAS) so we could lose the 9th if we just concede one of our last games for rest. Most likely both teams win out, we stay at 9th.
Atlanta matters for us getting to the 8th, so having 2 shots at making the playoffs. They have to lose vs both Philly & Orlando though which seems highly unlikely. Orlando can't catch Detroit, so they may rest their starters as well.

Yep, the Bulls are locked in at 9 unless:
They win out and ATL loses out, in which case the Bulls go to 8.
The Bulls lose out and MIA wins out, in which case the Bulls go to 10.

Re: Bulls vs Wizards 7pm CT Apr. 11 2025
Atlanta plays the tanking Philly tonight, so that's probably a W. Then they get the Magic again who already clinched 7th seed, so probably another W again. It would've been a much more interesting scenario if Atlanta beat the Magic last time, because then they'd have to duke it out that last game.
We have Wizards and Philly left, so that should be 2 wins. I don't think we'll be able to catch the 8th seed. We'll host Miami on the first play-in game and play either Orlando or Atlanta on the road (probably the latter). We've beaten Atlanta in every play-in tournament but can't get past Miami, it'll be funny if this time around we beat Miami only to lose to Atlanta.

As of 2 days ago, BetMGM hd them at a 26.7% chance to make the "real" playoffs. This is how they have it for the rest:
Heat - 37%
Hawks - 56%
Orlando - 86%
You can tell betting markets aren't perfectly mathematical, because that should theoretically pencil out to 200% total (because 2 of the 4 teams will make the real playoffs).
This is a bit notable, because this shows that the betting markets think the Heat are favored against the Bulls, despite the Bulls currently being in position to play that game at home. Maybe that makes sense since the Bulls actually have a better away record than at home.
I do think the Bulls are better than the other play-in teams as currently constituted, but at the 9 seed, you have to win 2 games in a row, which reduces the probability of it happening. For instance, if you think the Bulls have a 60% probability of winning the first game and a 60% probability of winning the second game, the probability of both of those things happening is 36%, assuming I can still remember math class from many years ago.

Re: Bulls vs Wizards 7pm CT Apr. 11 2025
We'll see if the "run everyone out the gym" formula can work in the postseason. We've been able to be so dominant in the 4th because everyone's been running out of gas while we keep running. Obviously no teams will be playing a back to back so fatigue shouldn't be a factor.
I'm also assuming they're gonna be gameplanned to hell (by Spo nonetheless), so we'll see who he targets on defense. He has quite a few to pick honestly... if Giddey or Coby picks up a couple quick fouls, we might be in for a long night. He already figured out a way to stop Coby in this last matchup.
If we survive the Heat, we get Orlando or Atlanta next. Orlando has been kicking our ass, but somehow this year we've been able to get the better of them. But I hope we don't see them, they have too much size advantage in almost every position. Atlanta I'm less worried about mainly because we've been able to beat them every time, but then again, we don't have Ayo so who knows. They're a bad defensive team though, so we have something to exploit there.

I do like our chances vs Miami, but it came down to the last few possessions even with an insane Giddey triple double. If he plays any less than one of his crazy Joker-lite nights and it would have been a MIA win.

I don't believe the Bulls are better than Orlando and I think they're about even with Atlanta.
I do agree they are better than Miami.
Of all the play-in years they've played in I feel the most confident this year that they'll make it all the way through.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.
