Offseason Work

Post#1 » by Chi town » Sun May 18, 2025 1:30 pm

We all love our summer hype videos that show Tyrus Thomas has grown two inches, added 20lbs of muscle and now has a stepback 3 ball.

Share whatever you find in here.

Who needs to do what…

Giddey
- Continue to get better shot setup and mechanics. I’d like to see him add the dribble up transition 3. I think he can get to 5 3s per game next season
- Would love to see a go to move that can get his own shot when we need a bucket with the shot clock winding down.

Coby
- Continue to develop the shooting and handle
- Lateral movement for defense. Study tape. Get to average like Giddey showed at end of season.

Buz
- Continue to develop the 3. Dribble 3s will help him a ton.
- Would like to see a lil post game, turn face go and some middies to keep the defense honest

Pat
- please learn to dribble

What do you want to see added to our players game

Literally if we don't see this thread flooded with PAW doing dribbling workouts I'm gonna be pissed. He doesn't need to take a single shot this summer. All dribbling all day. Pure trash that his handling has gotten worse every season.

I think we need a gofundme for PWill to go to Johnny-dribbles-a-lot (but he can afford it so NVM).

Yeah he got a $18 million donation from the Reinsdorfs coming. He can afford it. It's somewhat telling that he hasn't done it already. Kinda shows halis lack of care for improving.

To be sympathetic to Pat, I'm happy he has the chance to have a real offseason to get work in rather than rehab.

Just about everybody needs to learn how to spread the lanes on the break. Everybody has to be taught that the first option on a 3 on 1 break is NOT a 3 point shot.
PWill needs to be told explicitly by Billy to leave the corner and back cut to the basket, defendeers lose track of him and the cut is there. I honestly wonder if Patrick hasn't had some kind of hand injury that he can't grip the ball at times and gets it stripped driving in the lane so often. Shoot the darn ball,if the defender isn't as tall in the mid range, jump and shoot it, if he's wide open with 20 seconds on the shot clock, shoot it, FIRE AWAY. He also needs to be told that it's not his job to be the first one back on defense, he needs to get offensive rebounds and if Giddey, White, Matas, Ball, Ayo and everybody else can't get their backsides BACK on defense they can just look bad.

Patrick & Ayo both need to work on their 3s, they both shot poorly this season. Patrick working on dribbling is more of a nice to have after he gets his 3P% back up to 40%. But the primary reason he plays at all on this team is to hit 3s accurately, he does nothing else well. He's not a passer like Giddey, he can't iso and break people down like Coby, he's not a rebounder like Giddey, he's not a rim protector like Buz, he's not a dunker like Buz. When you can contribute only 1 thing, he better get that 1 thing down first otherwise I'd rather play Jalen Smith at PF or the new rookie.

Vucevic: learn to jump. I think it involves bending your knees and pushing upwards
