Hello!

Post#1 » by MarkDeeks » Mon Jun 2, 2025 12:42 am

Hello, I'm Mark, and I've never posted here before, and thus don't know any of you. Wouldn't want to, either, just look at the state of you.

Anyway, hi. I used to support the Bulls, from like 1999 to 2014, before having to rescind team allegiance for professional reasons. Luckily, my career has imploded adequately enough for me to post here, which I cannot stress enough is something I've never done before ever.

I miss the monomaniacal nature of fandom and how the tunnel-vision of partisanship creates a situation where somehow fans are both extremely knowledgeable and extremely ignorant at the same time - that is to say, tremendous knowledge of their own team's players foibles combined with generally terrible knowledge of their value - and figured I'd try and get back into viewing the game like that. Ideally while listening to disjointed radio feeds of John Paxson commentary and drawing on Scott Skiles's forehead.

I think it is important to understand what the consensus is - however, when it comes to the Bulls, I've lost the thread a bit. All I know is that Tyson Chandler never loses a jump ball, Trenton Hassell always takes the first shot of the game for some reason, Tyrus Thomas needs to learn some post moves and Bill Cartwright should play Jay and Jamal together. All completely correct and beyond reproach, of course, but probably a bit out of date.

So, I was wondering if you could share some opinions, thoughts and observations with me that I could pass off as my own. What's the deal? Anyone missing Zach LaVine? Did we give up with the Patrick Williams dream yet? How do we feel about Garpax? Will Yao Ming go number one this year?

(Seriously - how is everything? What do people think broadly about the big Bulls topics? And what ARE the big Bulls topics?)

Hello, rookie. Well, I will admit I'm just kind of wandering around in a bereft haze, due to the lack of an obsessively detailed draft guide describing the quirks of obscure Estonian teenage power forwards.

We've all moved on to arguing about which future superstar we need to draft at #12, with as much emotion as usual.

We still can't get into playoffs because this current roster is built on players who do not commit to top tier defense. Vooch has to leave.

Hello Mark! Nice to meet you for the first time ever!

(Glad you're back!)

What are the big Bulls topics? I'd say 12th pick, resigning Giddey, and trading Vuc are probably the most pressing topics at hand. As much as I hate this FO, I actually really enjoyed watching this team after the deadline and think Giddey and White have some nice chemistry.

As long as you aren't British. We have no room for those types here. All the extra "u's" in random words really mess us up.

Welcome back!

Alex Caruso was our spirit animal but we had to send him to a farm down in Oklahoma. He is happy and has a big yard where he gets to run and play all day long in the sun.

Patrick Williams is too heavy to play SF after trying to bulk up to play PF. Some think he is fat, but like Lauri before him, someone on the training staff thought losing your athleticism would help him rebound better. Turns out he can't box out and now he can't jump. The man started the season missing 7 of 9 dunks.

We had to send Zach LaVine to a farm in Sacramento to be with his friend DeMar. They are happy(?) and have a small yard where they get to walk the ball up the court, chuck shots and play all day long in the mud.

Garpax died for their sins. AKME tried to build with or around Zach but Lonzo Ball's knees where the fulcrum of this scheme and when they exploded so did our hopes and dreams. 17 years later and he has cyborg knees from Germany and we like him as a dude so he re-signed using Joe Biden's autopen.

Yao Mingooper Flagg will go number one after the NBA Illuminati rigged the election

As far as this previous season;
We all like Matas Buzelis and Ayo
Coby is cool but he will probably need to be paid too much to keep him
Giddey has been fun to watch
Vooch cared about playing winning basketball until he wasn't traded at the deadline
Kevin Huerter's 3pt shot is alive and well after dying in early March for the last two seasons
Tre Jones is a real point guard but we have like 5 other dudes who play PG and he is a FA
Julian Phillips is Derrick Jones Jr 2.0 and I am cool with that
Jevon Carter and Talen Horton Tucker are the token "FROM CHICAGO" guys on the roster. *Ayo and Matas are actually good.
Dalen Terry looked like he should be bagging groceries for most of the season but started to show some actual skill in a few games at the end of the season. Which puts a damper on my "he was only drafted as a favor to his agent or some sh#%" theory.

And lastly, Jalen Smith is adorable and needs to be protected at all costs.

I think that should have you all caught up

Nice to see one of the legendary old timers back, for the first time of course. Unfortunately the once great (mad) house has fallen a bit into disrepair but those too stubborn to leave still haunt its corridors.

The future has never been brighter.

Coby White is now an all-star (just go with it).

Josh Giddey is the new Magic Johnson. We expect him to get some minutes at Center next season.

Matas is who Larry Bird would have been if he could have dunked.

We can count on 92 games from Vuc and Ball combined.

Billy Donovan is an analytic genius. The best guy at describing what happened after it happens in NBA history.

This team is going places. Places like Detroit, Charlotte. Even Memphis.

P.s. Who is this Patrick Williams guy you speak of? I have never noticed him on the court.

Given your history of self-loathing and masochism, I consider your return a bad sign for the franchise. At least I would, if I had in fact met you before, which clearly I have not and am thinking of someone else.

I don't care what they say. Two wrongs do make a right, and a bad sign for a franchise that is already under a bad sign is a good sign indeed.
