I would trade Billy for a draft pick?

Yeah, the drum I kept banging in the other thread is that Billy isn’t the source of the Bulls being stuck in play-in hell, but I’m also not so overwhelmed with him that I wouldn’t happily take some draft capital to move on.

ANOTHER extension in the works. Would be great if we had some results to point to.

He's not a bad coach, I wouldn't be upset if he stayed or went but he's not the bad coach some people make him out to be.

He's been working with crap for a while, he's done okay with that crap all things considered.

The unusual thing with our front offices love for Billy is that they seem to love him, and yet, they've really done him no favors as far as constructing a team that best suits his sensibilities as a coach. And Billy really isn't that great of a coach where he can really adapt his style either, so it's been a lose lose situation.

It seems the only time the Bulls really had an ideal roster where it fitted with Billy's style was the latter part of last season, which is what, 5 seasons in to his tenure? And god knows what will happen this off season, and whether the front office will take another step back with regards to other players they bring on and whether they are suited to Billy's style of play.
Why so serious?

I don’t think Billy is Popovich or whatever, but the bolded part seems pretty clearly off. Billy ran a certain style of ball suited to the players he had and got the best results he could out of that style. When given different players with different abilities, he completely revamped the style in a single season to suit those players’ abilities.

The results have been middling in both versions, but that’s because he’s been given mid talent to use for both of those iterations of the team.

Did a good job last season

But he’s not good enough to get any team over the hump

That’s apparent by his three play in denials in a row

I dislike AK even more than John Paxson

Welp, guess that proves he’s better than Thibs.

And why are the Knicks so obsessed with other team’s coaches? Isn’t BD like the 5th coach they’ve done that with?

Also, means all those coaches are better than Thibs too.

I saw some NBA writer tweeting that it’s actually ok that they keep striking out, because this gives the Knicks excuses to have “other conversations” with those GMs while they’re also discussing the coach.

That seems a little too 4th-dimensional chess for the Knicks for me. Mostly, I think this just looks embarrassing.

That NBA writer sounds like a closet Knicks stan to me.

They have 2nds they could move. IIRC, when Jason Kidd got traded (as a coach), it was for 2 2nds.

It appears as if the Knicks fired Thibs without a clear plan of who would replace him.

Hrs also not a good coach either. He’s the definition of an average re-tread coach that somehow has a long career doing nothing of note.

So we may have been able to get some small compensation for Billy and then could have turned around and hired Thibs :banghead: May have even had the Knicks pay part of his salary! That would have been a come up and the type of shrewd move that is needed from this FO.

Don't know who's worse. The Knicks for asking about him? Or AKME for refusing
