Bulls FA and Lineup

With the draft behind us we can now look to FA and trades.

Notable info…
- ME Has said the team will be returning and one roster spot left
- Cowley has said AK is listening to Zo and Coby offers. Vuc has been quiet but Bulls motivated to move him and PW is who AK wants to trade the most
- ME has preached patience and not rushing and making mistakes
- Kings interested in Tre Jones
- Buz is putting on weight and playing well in runs

Seems AM will have to attack Zo to get off Vuc’s deal. Who can give us an asset and 30M expiring?

I’m thinking Tre only comes back if Zo, Coby, or Ayo get traded. If Tre is MLE 14M money he could keep us from resigning Ayo.

Let’s say we bring everyone back…
Zo 20 Tre 24 Ayo 4
Coby 32 Ayo 16
Giddey 32 Huerter 16
Buz 30 Pat 18 Noa
Vuc 24 Collins 12 Smith 12

Noa will probably play a lot more after the trade deadline like Buz.

It seems we keep Zo or Tre but not both.

Don't understand this public admission that we're trying to trade PWill, he sucks and everyone knows it was a mistake to sign him to that ridiculous contract, why give away even more leverage?

He was like this with Zach, too. And Lauri.

Pat will have to play like he played as a rookie but a little better until the trade deadline… and then, if that happens (and only if that happens), someone will offer cap space or an expiring for him. And AKME, having mentally decided to move on from Pat, will jump at that opportunity.

Lonzo they will move if they get an offer of an expiring and a couple of second, which they might near the deadline.

No offers will come for Vuc.

Coby, they value, so they likely want more (a couple of not too heavily protected firsts) than other teams are willing to give.

I think a lot of teams decided, especially BRK with 5 picks, decided they couldn't make major improvements to their team by trading for the players teams wanted to attach players to for picks. I would say the Bulls didn't have anybody to add to #12 to move up and didn't want what was offered to move down from there.

To me there will be a round of players bought out to open roster spots for a lot of teams. Nobody is going to send the Bulls anybody for Jevon Carter and both his people and the Bulls know it, they need a number so he can find himself a place to land. Dalen Terry probably watched the draft and saw 25 wing players picked who were talked about with at least the same skill level he has and they'll get less money than he will be offered. I'd say if his agent isn't looking to an overseas team for him, he needs a new agent

Once teams get a look at who is getting released I can see those center poor playoff teams making offers for Vucevic

Everybody gushed over the 59 kids picked but there are probably t least 2 players per team that are going to be released or ready to be traded and that's where the Bulls will be operating to add to the rotation.

I think plenty of teams called about PWill and offered junk so ME comes out and says they could move him and a bunch of teams stopped calling because junk wasn't going to get in done

That's because there hasn't been a public admission. Only unquoted speculation.

Yeah I think Vuc could be traded once the dust settles. Or when a contending team loses their C to injury. Still think Dubs would take him once Kuminga is shipped out.

If AK doesn't want worse contracts back, I really have a hard time seeing Vuc get traded. I can't really see any team that would have expirings to send back that wants Vuc.

Pat is going nowhere. No way we can be rid of him for less bad salary back. That said, I think the Noa pick may light a fire under Pat's butt this offseason.

I gotta think Carter could land a vet min deal somewhere where he'd get minutes (MIL?). As such, he should be ammenable to a buyout at his $6.5M less the vet min, or thereabouts.

Terry (like many) is a credible 3pt shot away from being a solid role player. He should be doing nothing else this offseason.

I think we are with his contract for the entire run but I hope he bounces back so we can move him for an asset. Rather see Dylan or JP take his minutes

Saw somewhere that PHO isn't resigning Bol Bol. He'd be an interesting get.

I'm sure we won't sign him, but I've always loved Bol Bol. Still don't understand why he doesn't stick anywhere. He's always effective when he plays.

His defense and basketball IQ is unplayable. He's good for a highlight play here and there and that's it.

I don't think teams have interest in Vuc unless:

1. They can shed long-term salary.
2. They can save money this year against the apron.

And in either scenario, he still has to be a decent basketball fit too. So, our options are very limited (non-existent?).

Lonzo seems like the most probable trade when you consider contract and role.

Agree. Although unless we have a deal lined-up for Jones, trading Ball leaves us without a good backup PG/POA defense option.

If I were to predict, I'd say the Bulls trade nobody and just re-sign Giddey and Jones. I'd actually be fine with that.

I am going to be very happy if we can keep Jones with Ball traded.

A rotation like:
Giddey/Jones
White/Ayo
Okoro/Huerter
Matas/Pat/Noa (eventually replacing Pat)
Vuc (optimistically gone before season)/Collins/Smith

Would make me happy.

Im not yet convinced the Lonzo trade signifies that Jones is a lock to be brought back. Obviously we all like what he did for us, but I can envision a world in which AK is pushing for a jumbo team, at least in terms of perimeter play.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he feels comfortable giving Giddey, Coby, and Ayo all of the minutes at the "1" in various capacities with Coby and Ayo being the guard defenders with Jevon's bum ass being the emergency guy.

We have a stable of wing defenders now between Okoro, Kevin, Dalen, Pat, Phillips, Matas, and Noa (who I dont expect to see the floor much).

We also have a bunch of guys who are playing for contracts.

This entire paragraph could also be totally wrong.

i think you still have to make a consolidation trade this offseason. giddey/coby/ayo/jones/okoro/huerter/matas/pat/noa(/terry/phillips) is just too many guards/wings, and obviously you don't need all 3 of vuc/collins/smith. plus jevon carter is still here

I will be surprised if Tre is not back.

Will be interesting to see who starts.

I think I like Tre better than Huerter as a starter. Or even Ayo over Huerter for POA defense.

Also think this foces Billy to play BIGGER. Okoro is a big dude that can defend 2-4.

Would Billy ever play a Giddey Okoro Pat Buz Noa lineup? All defense with Giddey.
