According to the Stein Line:

The strong expectation is that midseason acquisition Tre Jones will re-sign with Chicago.

This move makes too much sense (which is why I've been skeptical it will happen).

Predicted deal? 2/$20? I like 3/$30 w/ 3rd year TO.

Fine with me. While I agree that the Bulls should have gotten more in the Lonzo deal, Tre was actually more productive with his minutes last year when he was here than Lonzo and I like the pace he pushed when he was in there.

i feel like 3/24 would be a reasonable deal given that ty jerome is seemingly topping out at $10m AAV. (i'd personally be willing to pay more, but hey, gotta take advantage of the cap environment...)

This.

Davion got 2/12.

Between 8-10.

I would be pumped if we could get this done. Not everybody fits into Billy's system. Tre's a natural fit.

Agreed. I love Ayo, like I really really enjoy him being a Bull, but if we are talking about fit, Tre is a better fit than Ayo. And I think KC is right in his assessment, the Bulls will resign Jones and trade Ayo, which inevitably means that Coby is going to stay, though whether he stays the entire season or gets traded by the deadline is a different discussion.

Great news. He fits the system and is actually a very good defender.

This would actually be one of AK's few good moves.

Over his last 12 games Tre averaged 14,6,4 on 62.5/45.8/82.6 shooting and 1 STL.

Sure it was mickey mouse march but impressive numbers nonetheless.

I guess we’re trading Ayo ?

He does a lot, handles the ball, runs the offense, shoots the 3 was strong in the lane with the Bulls. He's one of those guys you'd call a pesky defender, gets in the passing lanes

I would like to have seen him paired with Lonzo but maybe now with the early switch he's with Coby. I don't think he affects Ayo as much as Olbrich might, if they think he's got the maturity to play they might as well keep him and Noa on the big club.

If he does sign I would think Carter could get bought out to look for a new deal. I would hope Dalen Terry knows a good realtor

You know, I know a number of posters were down on the guys we acquired in the Lavine deal but all three played well with us. Tre Jones is a luxury to have as a backup point guard who can spot start when needed. I will be curious to see what type of deal he received but glad he decided to come back.

A crucial point. I feel like this is the first time that the new CBA has filtered through to all of free agency, and not just one-off cases or trades. I don't think I've heard anyone really mention that Fred Van Vleet went from 43m AAV to 25m on his latest deal, for example, despite being imo their steadiest hand in the playoffs. He may be taking a hit to enable a title run, but if so, that is one huge hit. Things are happening, and the owners have to be thrilled. The union, not so much.

This seems to be the one guy the whole board agrees on.

Glad to hear he’ll be back.

Trading a package of Ayo, Vuc and maybe one more thing like the portland pick for any kind of difference maker at C could make this a really nice and balanced roster IMO.

Ugh. I'm still stuck on Beringer. Can we deal those guys and the pick for Beringer?

All on-board if the deal is Lonzo-like. Not a star but Tre is just a solid, winning player. True PG, good defender for his size, not a liability as a scoring threat.

It's delusional to say that we should've got more for Lonzo, he played 35 games after 2 years of not playing while getting injured again repeatedly this season.
