Has one been hired to perform this function to replace Peter Pettigrew/Parker?

Patton*
As far as I know, they haven't replaced that position, and I think I remember hearing they weren't planning on it either.
What about you sco? What's your stroke like?

As far as i know they aren't replacing him and will use existing personnel in that role.

The players can train with any number of great shooting coaches in the off season if they want to improve.

As a cost-cutting measure, Jerry Reinsdorf has referred all the players to a YouTube playlist of basketball training techniques.

Bulls will use ChatGPT to serve as the shooting coach this season. If we seem like a contender, we will spring for the paid version.

True, but the fact that the best organizations (Spurs & OKC) have someone in place on staff should be telling. Off-season is nice and all, but to have somewhere there with you throughout the season working through inconsistencies is huge.

FWIW, Patton wasn't the shooting coach for the Bulls. He was Director of Player Development which meant he led a staff of people around player development. This isn't to say he wasn't working directly with players or on shooting, that was his specialty in his last two jobs, but the Bulls didn't hire him as a shooting coach, they hired him to manage player development overall.

Understood and agree. Just wondering if someone is now on the staff who is helping our guys with their 3pt shot because it is such a big part of our system.

I would imagine that these days, all coaches help with three point shooting and that to be any type of player development coach at the NBA level that you need to be an expert in shooting, but that's just a guess based on what seems logical to me rather than based on anything. I would just think teams would want to come up with a lot of specific generalized criteria for all coaches to help guys with shooting.

This came up in another thread about a week ago maybe. I think we call all rest easy in the belief that our NBA franchise has a coach who is highly trained and experienced in coaching shooting.
It’s just so hard to imagine it would not be the case.

Since hearing Kyle Korver talk about shooting, I have started thinking about a jump shot like a batting swing or a golf swing. His shot had twenty keys to it.
Plus, the credit that the players went out of their way to give Patton on shooting, in particular, was striking. Removing something they clearly perceived as an aid already seemed like a loss, before you even start talking about how helpful Patton actually was.
Put it this way - is it a bad thing to have a good shooting coach, or is it a helpful thing? If it's generally helpful, we should expect it from the owners. And "using existing personnel in that role" to me means they won't pay for another one.

Players also go out of their way to praise other players we know aren't good at basketball.
Who's the Bulls dribbling coach? Who's the passing coach? Who's the dunking coach? Who's the free throw coach? Who the flagrant foul coach? Who's coaching how to draw fouls? Who's coaching layups? Who's coaching screen setting?

Jerry has made it clear he will pay for a contender; little did we know that would include real life pro developmental coaching and shooting coaches. I guess when we reach game 7 of the ECF, he will dig in his pockets a bit.

I believe it was KC who claimed it would be filled by Wes Unseld Jr and one other coach. Working with young players was consider their strength.

Didn’t ME say that they promoted someone internally or was that a different position?

If we get to game 7 of ECF, he would bring in Cuba Gooding Jr. to speak about his experience as the first black scuba diver.
Also I’m sure Rudy is pretty cheap to rent these days.

he said they didn't hire anyone as a director of development or shooting coach, and that they "promoted someone internally to join the player development crew." he said they have four player development staffers.
