Matas on the GOAT

Post#1 » by nekorajo » Sun Jul 20, 2025 7:14 pm

Now that the NBA withdrawals are officially kicking in, I've been binging old MJ highlights, and I came across what appears to be Matas saying that MJ isn't the GOAT. Matas instead named Kobe according to House of highlights which is a reputable YouTube channel, right? Nah this has to be defamation. Matas needs to sue and clear his name. Kidding ... but seriously who chooses the understudy. No disrespect to Kobe who has recently become underrated.

What’s his trade market?

Hilarious! To be clear I'm a Matas guy. As a matter of fact, I was one of the first to say that this was going to be his team. Said it last year after seeing him in summer league. I'm just surprised that a Chicago hooper with name anyone but Michael Jordan.

Also, no need to waive him. This is obviously defamation.

Who's the best player they can 1 for 1 trade him for that has MJ as the GOAT?

There is an entire generation of NBA fans that think Kobe is the GOAT (realistically he isn't in the top 10). Just like there is an entire generation who thinks Allen Iverson is one of the top 3 players of the 90s. And Chicago fans think Derrick Rose would of won multiple titles for the Bulls if he didn't get hurt. its not the majority thought but a loud minority.

Yeah, I always find it hilarious when Kobe is even mentioned in the GOAT talk. He was certainly a great, HOF level player, but as you say, hard to even place him in the top 10.

Its people wanting to be different. Like when you hear someone say "The Godfather isn't even a good movie!", just because everyone is saying its one of the top 5 all time. Everyone is telling them Jordan is the GOAT but all they remember is Washington Jordan and are seeing Kobe winning two titles without Shaq.

Lol exactly. Not realizing that Kobe's second title team had one of the most talented supporting casts ever. Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Metta all at or near the peak of their ability.

This is some Kyrie-level flat earth shenanigans. He's going to be late career Aaron Rogers in the locker room with this kind of conspiracy theory nonsense.

Cut him, cut our losses, remove the videos of the draft and his rookie year from the internet, and pretend we never heard of him. "Mattis," you say? I'm sorry sir, I don't see a record of any "Mattis" here.

Tally from the video

5 MJ
3 Kobe
3 KD
2 LeBron

Obviously the Kobe selections are silly as hell, but he did die somewhat recently. That does add to his legend a bit. But KD? Seriously? Even among the meatball Kobe picks, I never hear KD in the GOAT conversation. I didn't know the young generation looks at him so highly.

TBF, these guys weren’t alive when MJ was a Wizard, let alone a Bull. Watching highlight reel is different than having memories of watching a live game.

Anyway, all this tells me is that Matas will leave the Bulls for LAL in free agency after he makes his 1st ASG.

Return to Chicago Bulls
