According to Zach Lowe. Thought this was pretty funny. True or no? Bulls talk starts about 1hr11min into the video.

At least we don't have Bronny James on our roster

Voted Worst Future in the NBA x 3rd largest market in the US = lots of unhappy basketball fans

there's definitely also a multiplier effect caused by every single chicago sports team being bad and/or mismanaged for pretty close to a full decade at this point

lot of people at the end of their rope. it's honestly kind of remarkable to see in a city that's historically gotten itself to be optimistic about some pretty bleak situations

If there is some metric used to determine it, and Bulls fans are angrier now than they were 2-3 years ago, then Bulls fans are dumb as hell.

We finally have some reason to think we might be headed down a sustainable path to something that even if it’s not a contender should be a fun solid team.

well, since they still draw well I think that's unlikely

Unless we are just unhappy people in general? Which I don't think is the case.

Well look what we've been subjected to for the last 27 years. Of course we're pissed off especially considering we're still nowhere near contention.

Sure our FO has gone from terrible to mediocre. But that isn't gonna get us to where we need to go

Mainstream attitude of fans generally is reflective of the past 3 years, not the next 3 years, except in the case where there is really obvious reason to be excited about the next 3 years (drafting Derrick Rose or Caleb Williams as examples of moves that are big enough to overcome recency bias). The current Bulls don't have such a move, even if Matas becomes a superstar, it's only die hards that would recognize that possibility now.

As soon as we:

(a) got back to neutral on draft assets:
(b) got out from under oil/water Zach/DDR/Vuc core
(c) drafted Matas and Essengue
(d) Signed Giddey to a very reasonable deal.

We also have flexibility in deciding what to do with White and Ayo.

This is the first time since AK took over that we have a young, talented roster, a potential franchise player, a willingness to get young take some lumps, and most importantly have the flexibility in both contract dollars and assets to change and adapt as needed.

Not saying Bulls fans should be happy. Just saying if they are less happy than they were 2-3 years ago, they don't know ****.

Derrick Rose wasn't a superstar after his rookie year.

It was just an off the cuff comment. We seem pretty miserable online.

I mean i guess that is something and you are entitled to think you should be happier as a fan because of it. But it really isn't enough to expect everyone to change their thinking.

Don't worry, I don't expect it. I've long since given up on people in general changing their opinions even when the evidence changes.

For all you equally frustrated today as you were when AK was doubling and tripling down on an old, non-playoff roster with awful chemistry and less than all of its own draft picks, enjoy your misery. I'm just here to judge you, not change you.

The Bulls team is still the Bulls. That really hasn't changed despite Zach and DeMar being gone. This is still as of right now at best a play in team. Now the NBA created that for a reason and if that is enough to keep you interested as a fan great. But i am kind of expecting more from the Bulls then the play in each year and i have yet to see anything they have done the last two years to fundamentally change that. Now if Matas breaks out and is playing at an All Star level and the Bulls are winning because of it then i am sure all Bulls fans will be excited. But if they start off 8-16 then i cant fault anyone for being upset.

Small thinking but pretty typical. Casuals want a few extra wins and "playoffs" now and are much less concerned about sustainable, long term winning at higher levels. To each their own. We all watch for different reasons.

I mean, it's a laughably low bar for success that sounds like it was generated by a focus group full of accountants.

Seriously LOL! Sometimes it's fun to just pic out all the equivocations, buzzwords, and content free stuff in what people say when they feel like they have to say something and just giggle.

  • We have some reason... Not a lot, or good reasons, or expectations. Just some. A shred!
  • to think... not results... just use your imagination, and think about the success we could have!
  • we might... I mean, maybe... let's not set the bar too high and actually predict even a middling outcome!
  • be headed down a sustainable path... ahh, sustainable! A path!
  • to something... ahh... the good old sustainable path to something
  • that even if it's not a contender... noted. This "something" we might be headed toward is not much.
  • should be a fun solid team. The "fun" and "solid" of another year of guys Vuc, Pat and Okoro is certainly the Fine Corinthian Leather of the NBA.

So sure. If you are aren't happy with this, you're clearly "dumb as hell". Now sit back on your fake leather couch, have a beer, and enjoy your TV Dinner, Harrison Bergeron.

Ya this team is trash. It may be the best roster they've fielded in a while, but that's not saying much. We're a top international name, playing in a large market and we act like we're the Hornets. Settling for mediocrity is stupid, and its what Bulls fans are being relegated to. What is the ceiling of this team? "O don't worry this is finally going to be the year we are the 6th seed and don't have to be in the play in game." Come on. This is all mediocrity at best, and not really mediocrity cause its been a while since we've even been .500. We have the worst front office, worst ownership group, and it reflects on what's on the court. I keep getting free tickets and even that I feel is too much to pay for the product I'm seeing and the direction this team is going (nowhere).

We’ve got this amazing quantity of deadweight. The only Bull I would draft (on his salary) in a fantasy is Matas, if he dropped to round 3 and I needed a young prospect.

Why would I pick up Coby or Giddey in the top-60? That’s not even including the declining vets close to retirement (Steph, Jimmy, Lebron, etc.). I would rather take Haliburton or Tatum with their torn heels and gamble they’re back in full form, next year.

A logical path would be tanking this year. Then this rag-tag crew becomes complimentary for a young star (along with Matas). But without that, we don’t have great trade assets, aren’t maximizing cap space. Basically need to keep pumping and dumping regrettable contracts (first Zach, now Pat). Lamenting what happens with Coby (and Ayo, tbh, as much as I like him). Once these guys are all locked into $15 or 25M+ deals, we’re gonna have like $100M locked on a core that includes a lot of 3rd stringers and playoff bench warmers. It’s insane.
