What Happens From Here
We suck, it is what it is, our projected win total this year was 32.5 for a reason. Hope we can get a top 5-10 pick. Moving forward, I think theres two ways this can go:
1) AKME keep jobs - they have strongly signaled the young core is Giddey, Matas, Coby. I don’t disagree with that, none of them will be moved, and Coby will get a 4/120ish deal in the offseason. I would be stunned if Coby isn’t a Bull the next 4-5 years. The task remains to build a team around them. I truly believe AKME want to build this team into the Pacers and will be aggressive in targeting a Siakam type of guy. Getting Zion and praying he stays healthy is my top option, but I think they target Kuminga and he never lives up to the role.
2) AKME get fired, new front office, truly rebuild. Everyone on the table to be gone next year except Giddey and Matas.
Temper your expectations, I think #1 is likely.
The third option that I think is quietly out there is Reinsdorf finally selling the team. Justin Ishbia has been at a game or two recently. Following the Celtics and Lakers deals recently, the time is now old man.

Nothing will happen. Ownership is pleased because the profits ae still rolling in. They don't care at all about winning games

They will continue to sell nostiglia and mediocre basketball.
It time for me check my storage from my father house. I had like 4 seasons of the 90s Bulls on tape.
I never checked to see if he kept them.

Signing Coby to that deal is blasphemous . This should be his last year as a Bull.

Re: What Happens From Here
Ownership seems to have promised AK a decade to work with, and we’re stuck with it.
I agree he sees Billy, Giddey, Matas and Coby as the core. TBF, a defensive C would probably make that trio look better.
IMO Noa’s injury is a bigger blow than they’ll make it seem. I’m of the mindset that if he isn’t ready to be Billy’s 5th-7th man next year, he’s just going into the Pat Terry purgatory of useless deadweight project.
Kuminga, the challenge is that GSW wants a return, JK wants to be paid, and his ceiling (and floor) are both as dubious as our mish mash of failing prospects. He’d be the most talented forward after Matas.. but I don’t want Matas sharing/deferring to him.
This FO needs to generate some chips out of thin air. They need to stop blowing signings and draft picks.

It's impossible to predict what AK will do. I don't think he even knows

Not really, hes only 25 and will average 20-25ppg this year. Hes starting quality. Immanuel Quickley got 5/150 so fair to assume Coby will want the same if not more.
Based on what AKME have said publicly, they view Coby as a cornerstone. I don’t see him traded (even though he should be moved at the deadline) or walking for nothing. Rumors have said he hasnt been made available in trade talks.

Re: What Happens From Here
What happens from here? That's easy.
The Bulls will continue to fight tooth and nail with teams to get wins, they'll eventually pull together a good stretch where the Bulls are 'back' again and the front office will sit on their hands through the trade deadline. After they will hold a press conference and say there were "too many buyers" and that they believe in this core.
The Bulls will make a late push for the play-in, make it, win the first game buy then lose the 2nd. AKME will say in their end of season presser that their record was only this bad because of the injuries throughout the year.
The draft lottery will roll around and the Bulls will have the 11th (or so) pick, the Bulls will pick some lengthy athlete around 6'7" - 6'9" in the draft.
In free agency the Bulls will give Coby 35m a year so they don't lose him and resign Vucevic but do nothing else other than sign a few players to fill out the roster.
Billy Donovan probably gets another secret extension that no one knows the details of...
The end.

Re: What Happens From Here
I assume we will hear that AK and Billy feel that our roster hasn't gotten a chance to work together, they need to evaluate, and are more likely to make a colossal mistake trading for an injury prone star at depressed value, vs attempting to acquire any sort of assets for our ragtag lot of misfit toys.

Re: What Happens From Here
Our next two games are against the Hornets and Pelicans. Both are below us in the standings and the Pelicans are the worst team in the league and on a 7-game losing streak. If Billy drops either of these, especially the Pelicans game, it’s going to be really interesting to see whether he actually survives.
Big-picture though: fans need to get loud again. We have more influence than we think. The Bulls absolutely monitor these forums. They read Reddit. They track the temperature. All these posts matter. That billboard mattered. The blowback last time mattered. I don't think it's a given that AKME will be here forever. Arturas never hit a game-winning shot in the finals for us. The Reinsdorfs don't owe him anything.
Personally, I believe if they miss the playoffs again next season, they’ll be gone, which is exactly why we're already hearing rumors of them being buyers at the deadline. They’re trying to save their jobs.

I have no interest in Kuminga. Maybe I'd change my mind if Patrick Williams was part of the deal, but why would GS do that?

Billy could lose those 2 games by 30 and his job will still be safe.

Re: What Happens From Here
OMG you just described how bad things could develop from here on. Kuminga and Zion are fools gold and even if they'd perform I don't want to support such characters as being my Bulls stars.
The big question is how to make Reinsdorf acting or at least reacting?
In case things were not driven in the wrong direction, a capable new GM still would have opportunities.
By summer of 2027 we as of now would just have
Giddey (steal)
PWill (bust)
TJones (steal)
Matas (steal)
Noa (probable bust) and
2026 1st (?) under contract for a combined 80 mio, which is a relatively low number.
I do however fear that everey wrong decision from here on could make the ship uncontrollable for years ...
