What we already know, but in print

I've told some guys I'm going to ride them," Boylan said. "We need to get this team right. I know we have a lot of games in a short period of time, but our season is slipping away."

Joe Smith didn't play after the 3:39 mark of the third quarter despite nearing a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

"It was probably my fault that I left him out too long," Boylan said. "Because when he sits too long, he has a tendency to stiffen up a bit."

Another rotation read that's clear from Boylan's first three games is that Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas should have some battles in practice for playing time. The only reason both played against the Magic is that Aaron Gray got into foul trouble in his brief reserve stint.

Otherwise, Boylan will be playing one or the other.

"The guys know I can't play all of them," Boylan said. "So on a game-by-game basis, we'll see how the matchups go. Practice, what your attitude is around the team, how positive you are, all those things will factor into it.

"When I was younger and I wanted someone's spot, I had my eyes on that guy and I tried to go out and get it. That's what they need to do."

After not playing Sunday in New York, Thomas started the second quarter. Noah replaced Gray. None played more than 5:34.

noah..since he's somehow averaging .1 blocks better this season than his career.

I think Noah is better imo, he is NBA ready and I could see him starting over Wallace as soon as next year.

If there was no veteran entitlement minutes, we would never have a problem playing them both.

Christ Almighty.

So we don't play the two guys who could possibly take this team to the ext level.

Instead we start a frontcourt with an average age of 33 years old. Great idea.

I'm f*&^ing sick to my stomach.

Wow. I like how the team is making no effort to cover up the fact that they are just trying to get back to last year with no thought of investing time into improving.

Its just this simple, if Paxson invested two (three if you call it just lottery) top 10 picks into guys that can combine for 5 minutes per game on an 11 and 18 team, he should be fired.

This is not so secret code for I'm going to continue to play the old guys even if they suck. Meet the new boss, same as the old.

Couldn't agree more.

To some extent, the development time is worse. Beyond that, Boylan has more of a penchant for going small.

Right now, you have a GM who seems desperate to make the playoffs and a coach who is auditioning for the job. They aren't going to experiment apparently.

The guy I feel most sorry for is actually Noah. He would be getting playing time on most teams in the NBA, let alone the bad ones. As it is, the Bulls may be the only bad team in the NBA who would keep Noah on the bench.

In general, I think the strategy of 'one or the other' is garbage. The worst of both worlds. I can't see either guy developing like that. It would probably be better if Boylan just picked a favorite, either Tyrus because its his 2nd year, or Noah because he thinks we are more thin at Center, and goes with that guy.

Don't leave the keyboard Fish, you've got genius flowing through your fingertips.

Agree 100%

I am a Tyrus nut-hugger above all others, but I can see reasons why Tyrus might not play (not that I agree with them, but I can acknowledge them).

But there is absolutely no reason why Noah should have his ass glued to the pine.

It's Paxson's fault that he drafted the same exact player in back to back drafts. I can understand Noah being the BPA, but you didn't need him, and you should have either passed, and let him drop to Sacremento or traded his draft rights.

Tyrus/Noah is not the future frontcourt, and it wouldn't work at all.

I disagree completely.

Tyrus /= Noah, and Noah /= Tyrus

They play two different positions, and their playing styles are different on offense. The only similarity is their frenetic defensive intesity, and their still developing offensive skills.

Tyrus has shown the ability to score, and given some development he can become a legitimate scoring PF.

I'm sure anybody can develop a jumpshot. Doesn't really take an idiot to do so. It's just about what you're better suited doing. Both are better suited playing near the rim getting rebounds, and being garbage men on offense. While Tyrus's jumper got better, I still shake everytime he shoots. His jumper is still pretty raw.

Their college games were the same as well, except Noah had more of an impact, and flourished with a better program.

Other than the 2 inch height difference, you're dealing with the same player. Too much alike, and I see Pax shipping one of them soon.

I have not seen any improvement in his offense . To me he still looks raw as ever . The Bulls should cut there loses and try trade him . He's not going to develop here .

God get over the "practice" or play mentality. It's down right assanine to hold those players to that standard and not Ben Wallace. That's all I ask as a fan, if you hold Tyrus or Noah accountable than hold everyone on the team accountable in the same manner.

The fact they are younger makes no bones to me, it's a doube-standard and teammates see that as such. You can't act like there players are naive. Man I'm not sure I can watch another full game with Boylan as the coach. I'll just watch in spurts.....

I disagree. His jumpshot percentage has certainly improved.

The Bulls should cut there loses and try trade him . He's not going to develop here .

Then we need new leadership.

Watch a little closer.

His jumpshot is much better. He doesn't hesitate and it looks far more comfortable and smoother than last year.
