it's mere speculation. Collins turned them down in 2005 saying he wasn't interested in coaching again, and I don't think he's changed his mind. What the Bucks need is a new owner. Senator Kohl likes to be his own GM, and he's not that good at it. He's the guy who hired Stotts.

Its probably just speculation, but if they were willing to pony up $2M per for Doug, I'm willing to bet that is a big pay raise over what he makes from TNT, and might be enough incentive, even if it means living in Wisconsin for a significant part of the year.

Looks like they want him for their GM position, not head coach.

Man, Collins is one of the coaches that I am really high on.

I would love to have him as our coach.

He would fix lot of the problems we have such as leaving those shooters open, using BW as a screen and roll by the 3-pt line, recognizing matchups and how to utilize Ben Gordon and others.

Just by listening to him you can tell he can pin point exactly what we are doing wrong and what we could do to correct it.

collins knows the bulls flaws. id feel more comfortable w/ him than any other coach. (unless we get coach k)

I'm really worried about the Bucks getting him. I love his color commentary. He's excellent.

But my concern has nothing to do with the Bulls missing out on him. He's not on my radar screen as a fan.

The Bulls are built around young, accomplished college ballers and K is a Chitown guy who has maintained his connections with the community.

exactly. not only does k have to leave duke, but you have to pay an arm and a leg. but if k did coach in the nba, i feel the bulls would be a perfect fit for him. especially w/ duhon and deng there.

I don't understand overpaying for an unproven NBA coach (like coach K) when history shows that college coaches will fail and therefore deserve less money.

Every person is unique, and I'm sure eventually one of the overpaid college coaches will actually do great. Maybe they are sexy names or something.

Coach K: "I agree, so I should therefore be among the top 5 or 6 highest paid coaches."

Meh. I put the "college coaches can't coach in the NBA" argument in the same category as the "Kevin Garnett can't win in the playoffs" argument.

KG had relatively poor playoff success because his teams sucked.

Similarly, how many college coaches took over teams with decent rosters?

I would have ZERO problem with the Bulls dipping into the college ranks for a smart, enthusiastic coach.

i also can't picture Krzyzewski leaving college for the NBA.
he's had plenty of oppertunites to jump to the NBA but recruting seems to be his true passion. Duke is paying him well and he's also got Bejing 2008 on his agenda.

I'm surprised I feel the way I do, because, as you said, nobody can do something, until someone does it. Which means, just nobody has done it yet.

I do believe college and NBA coaching though are very different. A few years ago coach K stopped running plays, although that was a very talented team at the time, maybe that has changed.

I guess I'll say, thus far, college coaching success has not translated in to the NBA for the most part. So, why overpay someone with no NBA coaching experience. But hey, it's not my money.

Let me put it another way. There is nothing to indicate that Coach K would be a good NBA head coach. He could be, he could not be, but there aren't any indications of that. Perhaps it's more of an emotional thing and Coach K is liked and he's a 'big name'. I don't know.

Yeah definitely. The two that I would like to look at would be Roy Williams (though it'll be really tough to get him from North Carolina) or John Thompson.

I agree with Bigups if this is indeed for the coaching position. Collins brings a proven coach who can handle younger players well.

I think coach K is a fabolous coach BTW, he gets the most of his players and commands so much respect. I would love to get either here honestly.
