Knicks @ Bulls Postgame Thread: Its a very sad day indeed..

Post#1 » by kulaz3000 » Wed Jan 9, 2008 4:02 am

- 1st Quarter. We played poor defense, and poor offense to start the game. But Wallace and Joe crashed the offensive boards hard and aggressively and righted the ship. Joe was just destroying the Knicks front court, block shots on defense. Wallace and Smith both had 5 rebounds apiece in the first quarter. But the more suprising thing was that we saw a line up of Gray, Noah and Tyrus in the first quarter, even whilst Wallace and Smith was playing relatively well. Way to go Boylan, now lets let them run and play for a few mintues through the second quarter as well. Also, we had 17(6 offensive) rebounds in the first quarter, and zero turnovers.

- 2nd Quarter. Suprise suprise. Boylan sticks with his monster front court and it delievers. They crashed the boards on both ends, Gray abused Curry for a few straight possessions. Yet, we continue to give up too many easy points. With the way the Knicks rebound, we just need to clamp down on the defensive end on a few possessions on the game will be our of reach. Again, we continued to stink it up on the defensive end, allowing the Knicks to hang around and finally our bad defense caught up to us when we went on a offensive draught. Our offense has been better with Boylan, but our defense has not been impressive at all. We continued to kill the Knicks on the boards with a 31 to 20 rebounding advantage with 14 offensive boards. We continued to take care of the ball for the most part, minus a little stretch where we let the Knicks back into the game with three turnovers. We end the half with only 3 turnovers. BG with a quiet 14 points, lost in the mix of the joy of seeing our young front court.

- 3rd Quarter. We start the quarter aggressive on the defensive end, for the first time in the game. 10 point lead early with only 4 mins into the quarter. Wallace and Joe stays aggressive in the front court. Noc hits a gusty three, but gets subbed out quickly for Tyrus as he is battling the flu. Tyrus played a less than desireable few mintues in the third, but to his credit he was playing out of position and minus a few mistakes he was playing pretty well. After playing a few good possessions on defense, we continue to allow the Knicks back in the game with easy baskets, as they end the third quarter still shooting over 50%. It seems as though we're playing down to the Knicks level instead of just taking them by the throat and ending the game early. It never felt like the Bulls would give a big lead to the Knicks, but at the same time, it never felt like the Bulls could blow out the Knicks either. Third quarter ends with the Bulls up 10 points.

- 4th Quarter. We take the lead, the Knicks go on a little run, and they get back in the game. Suprised? The Knicks let up and don't focus and we take the lead, they play with a little effort and the lead goes back down. We're just going through the pace and letting the Knicks dictate the games outcome, when we have had opportunites to take over the game. Im not sure who to blame, our bad defense, or bad coaching. Kirk makes a key turnover(his first turnover of the game), by stepping out of bounds to give the Knicks an opportunity to tie the game. Jamal makes a shot, tie ball game. Under Boylan, we havn't turn the ball over as much, yet we still turn the ball over frequently during the end of games. We continue to make crucial turnovers to end the game. The Knicks hold onto a 2 point lead as we continue to give up offensive rebounds to end the game, when were abusing them on the boards for the majority of the game.

We went through the motions tonight, and let the Knicks either win or lose the game. They decided to win the game. It was our own doing.. we kept them in the game. Our defense has been terrible the entire game, and our offense is going to be up and down. We need to get out defense in order, Boylan hasn't done much with the defense thus far.

Time to put the Boylan kool-aid down folks. And stop reading the newspapers.

This team is no better than when Skiles was here. And it doesn't really matter if you play the vets or the young guys. So in that case, play the young guys and see who we want to keep or not for next year.

I hope Paxson docks everyone's pay for a few game for such @$$ of a loss.

BTW, I'm officially on board for the tank the season. This team sucks or just mentally weak.

Hope everyone's happy Tyrus got to play. Since that's all anybody seems to care about.

Happy Tyrus played. Will be happier when he plays in position. As I said previously, W-L no longer matters to me this season.
Trade Wallace

(this worked for Skiles. Lets go for 2)

This should be a fun game thread of suicidal posters.

Maybe now reality is setting in for people around here. Yet another collapse in a close game. This team is awful down the stretch of games. Our guard play, barring a Gordon hot streak, is subpar when the game is on the line. And Curry dominated down low tonight.

Ugh did that suck. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

We gave it away. Tyrus still has no offensive confidence. Joe Smith is a stud, the hell with low post scoring - he can do it from the PF even if 3/4 of his points are jumpers. Gordon got cold at the wrong time - bad game for him. Hinrich did a nice job, although he ceratinly struggled guarding Crawford, who looked magnificent.

I think we need to get a bigger guard period. We can't win a title even if Tyrus, Noah, Thabo etc all improve without one - unless Thabo becomes that big guard...which looks unlikely...

Can we trade Gordon, Deng and a first rounder for Mike Miller? Please.

On another note, terrible display by Tyrus. Only positives was one blocked shot in the 4th quarter and one rebound. Then he had like 3 goaltendings, one stupid inboud pass that ended with 2 Knicks' points and he hurt the Bulls on O.

Nocioni was crap but you'd kinda expect that.

When they were to the three guard set, we matched it for a time, to no effect. Then when they went to it again, we went to a very big lineup.......to no effect.

The moment we threw Tyrus at SF against their 3 guard lineup we got a layup as a result of a NY double team with Marbury guarding Tyrus in the post. Knicks immediately put Lee in the game and went big. At that point we should've gone with Griffin for Tyrus. But going big against their 3 guard attack absolutely worked for us tonight. We got killed trying to match them with 3 guards.
