OT: How Many Future NBA Players on Your Fave College Team?

I'm tired obsessing about the Bulls, so I thought I'd try and happier topic. How many future NBAers do you see on your current favorite college team?

By future NBAers, I mean guys who will actually stick in the league for a few years -- not guys who might get a 10-day contract or some other brief cup of coffee. I know I'm very biased about my school, but I'm going to try and be objective (I might fail, but I'll try). I hope you'll be the same with your fave.

Anyway, as you all know, my favorite team is my alma mater: KANSAS

Future NBA Players - Locks

Brandon Rush - Has played very cautiously since returning from knee surgery (Bill Self yelled at him last night to be more aggressive and to actually shoot the ball more!) and his explosiveness has not yet fully returned, although there have been flashes of his old self. Unlike his brothers, is not a gunner -- in fact, may be TOO unselfish. Can finish at the basket and hit the outside shot and is a pretty good rebounder and defender. Is a streaky shooter to say the least.

Darrell Arthur - Very athletic big man who has a nice array of post moves and can hit the midrange jumper as well. Doesn't always work hard as a rebounder or defender. Has the ability to be a good passer, but is still a bit of a black hole when he gets the ball in the post. Runs the floor very well and has shown ability to take over a game for stretches, if not yet on a consistent enough basis

Future NBA Players - Good Chance

Mario Chalmers - Like Robinson is one of the best backcourt defenders in the nation. Is on pace to shatter his own school record for steals in a season. Yet rarely gambles, so is hardly ever out of position defensively, although can be taken off the dribble by the real quick guards. Has improved his shooting immeasurably -- is at 55% for the season, and over 48% from behind the 3-point arc. Has decent size, but is really a combo guard, not a true PG, and lacks great playmaking skills, although he has improved on his ballhandling this season. Could definitely be a 3rd or 4th guard on a NBA team

Future NBA Players - Decent Chance

Darnell Jackson - Easily the most improved player on the Jayhawks this season. Big man with a terrifi motor, especially on offense and as a rebounder. Hits the boards very hard and shows good technique in blocking out opponents. Has improved his jumper and now will shot from FT line extended with regularity. Also finishes around the basket well. Is effective in high/low game, but not a great passer. Struggles defensively with effort and lack of great lateral quickness. A little undersized for a PF.
Russell Robinson - Probably one of the best backcourt defensive players in the country (he's made Big 12 All-Defensive team each of last 2 years and always guards the opponent's best perimeter player), his chances are hurt by his size (6'1") and the fact that he isn't neither a true PG nor a good enough shooter to be a primary scoring threat. But his work ethic and defensive skills might land him a shot to make a NBA team as a 4th guard type

Sherron Collins - His size (5'11", maybe) and the fact that he isn't a true point guard work against him. Very quick with the ball in his hands and strong. Good, if streaky, perimeter shooter who also excels in the open court. Not on the level of Robinson and Chalmers as a defender, but still above average. Needs to work on his decision making and playmaking skills

Sasha Kaun - Senior big man has never quite developed as hoped. Runs the court very well but struggles to finish in the post unless he is dunking the ball (shows better than decent hops on alley oops). Good passer in high/low game, but hands are questionable when he's the one receiving the pass. Not a good enough rebounder for someone his size.

Cole Aldrich - Freshman big man doesn't get much PT right now. But he was the 3-time Defensive Player of the year in Minnesota in high school and already shows strong shot blocking and rebounding instincts. Has a very good motor and has some post moves. Doesn't appear to be overly athletic or quick.

Future NBA Players - Longshot, but Not Out of Question

Tyrell Reed - This skinny freshman, a 6'3" white boy who's a coach's son from a small town has been compared to Kirk Hinrich. He isn't anywhere near as good of a defender as Kirk, but he may be a better shooter (Kirk was a very good shooter on the college level, but as we know that hasn't translated that well to the NBA). He's buried on the bench so doesn't play enough for me to tell what kind of playmaker he is. He might not play a lot until his junior season, so it's way too soon to tell if he can become a NBA prospect. Of course, no one thought Hinrich was a probable future NBA player until his junior season...

Maybe anywhere from 3-5

Probably Pros

Mike Tisdale - skilled 7' freshman already has good athletic ability for his size and can shoot the 3, and has an unstoppable hook shot. Can also make free-throws

Sean Pruitt - having an awful senoir season due to lack of a point guard and any 3 point shooter, but could be picked up late in the second round, and wouldn't be a bad backup center for a team.

Dimitri McCamey - true freshman that looks like Deron Williams as a freshman. Not saying he's going to be as good as Deron, but the similarities are almost eery.

BIG maybe

Jamar Smith - Redshirt Junior Deadly shooter, only 6'2" so maybe too small for the NBA, may land with a west coast team in the "Steve Kerr" role. Redshirting this year for DUI.

Alex Legion - Freshman Transfer from Kentucky 6'5" shooting guard, pretty highly rated player coming out of high school.

Mike Davis - reminds me of Tyrus Thomas, freak athlete. Also has a pretty high Bbal IQ, needs to work on his hands, and shot. He is just a freshman so who knows.

Iowa's got a couple of guys who could be towel boys at the next level.

Without a Doubt
Raymar Morgan - He'd be a first rounder after this year or a lottery pick next year.

Good Chance
Kalin Lucas - 6'0 PG who's already shown to be a stud in big games. After a decent start he singlehandedly won some games for us and played about even with Augustine against Texas.

Durrel Summers - 6'5 wingman with nearly as much athleticism as Jason Richardson. Already has a much improved shot as a freshman and as long as he sures up his defense he'll make it into the league.

Decent Chance
Drew Neitzel - 6'0 PG/SG. Probably doesn't have enough quickness to be a great player in the NBA, but he has that IT factor, makes good decisions, and can hit open 3s in the league. He'd be a solid 2nd/3rd string PG.

Not Quite a Longshot
Tom Herzog - 7'0 C who weighs about 130 pounds. Smart, skilled big man, but is lacking confidence and body mass. Guys with his length and athleticism don't grow on trees. If he can bulk up he'd make a solid backup C in the league some day.

Longshot
Goran Suton - 6'10 PF with great offensive moves and a pretty good defender. His problem is consistancy. He can look like an AA First Teamer one game, then in the next game you wonder how he's a Div 1 athlete.

Marquis Gray - 6'8 PF with unreal athleticism. He's had a lot of problems with injuries and hasn't really developed as planned. Despite his constant brain farts he still has the ability/athleticism to be a decent NBA player.

Chris Allen - 6'3 Combo Guard with a great shot and unlimited length on it. Has the ability to play point, but due to a roster with 3 good PGs won't get that chance this year. He's also been injured for a decent part of this year. Could be a good spot up shooter in the pros.

No way Pruitt gets drafted. Can't pass out of the post, and is a horrific free throw shooter.

Yeah I meant to switch pruitt to a BIG maybe category. He'd be a great player if he would learn to pass out of quadruple teams, and hit free throws better than 75%

My favorite team is Northwestern (my alma mater). I think we may have a few guys who could become front office execs, and possibly a future owner or 2. I don't care, its ok, cuz you will work for us some day, goooooo Cats!

Eric Gordon, DJ White this year

Jordan Crawford in 2

That's it. I'm not thinking decent players are NBA material here. It's the freaking NBA and I think you should think about that. 60 drafted players, invitees, and a few D-league callups and 5-10 guys from a bad team get maybes???? Come on now.

Kansas:

I like Chalmers and Arthur. Rush disappoints me and Collins/Robinson are just not there for me. DJ/Kaun/CA I can't endorse as pros.

Hadn't heard that one in a while...

What year are you? I was 2001 from good ol' WCAS.

------

Actually my favorite team is my hometown Memphis Tigers.

I think that whole starting five could make it onto and NBA roster

CDR - reminds me of Rip Hamilton. Solid Athlete, Good slasher

Derrick Rose -- A beast of a PG -- will need seasoning -- but looks like a Baron Davis type.

Joey Dorsey is a banger at PF. Good leaping ability. Needs to play smarter.

Antonio Anderson -- probably the least like to get a shot. Has good skill. Makes plays for others.

Robert Dozier -- A tall SF with the ability to shoot. Needs to improve handle. Willing to bang.

Joe Smith University AKA the Mighty Terps of College Park, Maryland

PG- Grievis Vasquez. A 6'4" sophomore. Pure PG, solid defender and fiery competitor and vocal leader, very Gary Payton like in demeanor. He'll be a late 1st rounder in 2 years.

PF- James Gist. 6'8" senior. Athletic, long, lanky, tremendous shot blocker and finisher. He could go sometime in the 2nd round or be undrafted. but he'll find his way on an NBA roster at some point.

C- Bambale Osby. 6'8' senior. Kind of a poor man's Gist, very raw, not nearly as skilled offensively. But a definite high energy guy. Probably won't be drafted but could see an NBA roster after fine tuning his game overseas or in the D League.

PF- Braxton DuPree. 6'7" freshman. The absolute reincarnation of Lonny Baxter. Will probably turn out like Lonny too, minus the guns in front of the White House thing.
