Veterans get point across by calling players-only meeting

ATLANTA -- As recently as Wednesday, interim coach Jim Boylan gathered his players to stress the importance of this four-game trip and, despite inconsistent play, the Bulls' proximity to the playoff picture.
After Saturday's practice on the Georgia Tech campus, his players followed suit.
Veterans Adrian Griffin and Ben Wallace asked Boylan and his staff to leave the gym and then led a brief, players-only meeting.
"Even after wins, you still need to at times talk about some things that may have went wrong," forward Joe Smith said. "That's what it was about. We know we have some ground to make up on this trip, and we know we have a good opportunity.
"We're still in the hunt. If we play the right way, we have games where we're capable of winning. We have to take care of our bodies and each other on the floor."
On the drive to practice players had shared their intentions with Boylan, who appreciated the idea.
"You want your guys to take ownership of the team," Boylan said. "We have guys stepping up in a lot of ways, so it's good. You have to give them the freedom to lead. We're trying to nurture that and give them the opportunity to do it. It's great to see."

It scares me that Wallace is calling the players only meeting.

Whats wrong with that? Its good to see Ben actually trying to be a leader on this team and not just Adrian Griffin.

Because he's done a poor job of leading by example this whole season. Why would you listen to someone who consistently plays without passion?

Noah was going to say something but then the Bulls placed a gag order on him.

I can imagine it now....
Big Ben: We need to run more pick and rolls with me. Especially at the end of games. I'm telling you guys that pick and roll is money.
Griff: We need to tighten up the defense.
Big Ben: Man, don't worry about the defense. I'm a four time DPOY, I got that covered. That's my thing. Back on topic, you guys need to give the rock at the end of games. We take too many jump shots, let me work my magic in the post.
Griff: Well we should play Aaron for his post offense.
Big Ben: No we shouldn't. I'm already not getting enough minutes as it is. You want them to cut down my minutes even more, FOR A ROOKIE!! Man, **** this, **** that, **** you all. *Big Ben storms off*
Well, at least that's how I picture it

How awesome would it be if Wallace refered to himself as "Big Ben" during the players only meeting?

It wouldn't shock me if Big Ben spoke about himself in third person.

They should've VK, Noc, and Thabo conducts the meeting.
Noc with his awesome ascent, VK have something to do beside sitting down the bench, and Thabo can give his awesome rap.

This is getting old fast. If the vets want to prove how mature they are and how much they know about winning, they need to lead by example and do it on the floor, not in the locker room.

Ah, the old team meeting down in the basement of the Berto Center...
Hyde: "We should record our conversation so we can write it down, man. I bet that's how the writers of National Lampoon do it."
Kelso: "Yea well I read somewhere that there are these people in France."
Hyde: "What do they do?"
Kelso: "They're incredibly...French."
Eric: "Oh that's it, I'm getting the tape recorder."
Fez: "Where's my toast you idiots?"

C'mon you all say we need BW or someone other than Griff to be a leader and BW really stepped up. I hope this really motivates us and gets us going. Put all individual issues aside and start putting up Ws.

I think this might be a spot where Paxson could decide to go to a youth movement and if he does this means Ben Wallace's time dropping dramatically.
We are close to the youth movement and the vets very well know it!
