Would we have a chance against DET/BOS in the playoffs?

The organizations goal is to make the playoffs. Right now we're playing the veterans in an attempt to get there. With the huge hole we've dug ourselves we would most likely be a 7/8 seed which would mean meeting up with one of these two in the first round. Even if we were able to get a 3-6 seed we would meet one of them in the second round.
Boston (30-5) is on a flat-out tear this season. They're near the top of the league in both defense and offense. The 'big 3' seems to have clicked right from the start, with the possible exception of Allen still searching for his place in the offense. If they are healthy I don't think the Bulls have a chance this year.
Detroit (28-9) haven't played this well in a couple of years. They have their strongest bench since winning the championship and the starters are playing to their usual standards. We've beaten them twice this year but as everyone knows they don't turn it on until the playoffs. We'd have a better shot at beating them than the Celtics, but I don't think we could beat them.
My question is would we be able to beat either one of these teams in the playoffs? Personally I don't think we could. Keep in mind we wouldn't have home court advantage in either of these matchups.

We'd have a chance of winning a 4th quarter or two after they pulled their starters.

No.
Maybe win one game out of a 7 game series.

We can't even beat the Knicks

I would expect the Bulls to get destroyed.
Bulls may be hoping for higher than the #7 seed though too. Right now the teams above the Bulls are better than the Bulls, so, at this point, I wouldn't expect the Bulls to beat any one.
But I'm for the youth movement too, and that comes from agreeing with your premise snake.

Which Bulls team are we talking about? The current incarnation, or previous incarnations featuring almost exactly the same players?
One has a prayer. One hasn't a prayer.

He's talking about this season's playoffs. Does that help?

Well Wallace would negate KG and Griffin would negate Pierce, so he's probably worried about Ray Allen.

There is no guarantee Boston's big three will be there at the end of the year. Ray Allen's already showing signs of problems. Detroit? they spanked us last year but they have their own monkey on their collective backs, as they have established themselves as a team (with one exception) that cannot complete the deal.
Beyond those two there is not much else besides Orlando. If the Bulls could pull it together and get to .500 who knows what could happen, you never know until they play the games.
But the Bulls would have to pull it together. That's a big if.

Demetrius Nichols would negate Allen, and I'm guessing we could revive Sweetney to negate Big Baby Davis. I am guessing we could counter Rondo with an Earl Boykins signing.

Well Paxson has said the goal is to make the playoffs with the vets. I'm just wondering what they hope to achieve once (if?) they get there.

Toronto and Cleveland would also give us problems. If we do get a 3-6 seed there's no guarantee we would even get past the first round.

Good point snake Toronto, Cleveland, and New Jersey all give Chicago fits. Not sure how we have done against Orlando, but, this year, they are a way better team to this point.

I think K.C. Johnson said it best when he concisely called this season a failure. The goal all along was to contend in the Eastern Conference for the top spot. Anything less has to be considered a failure. The team takes half a step forward with a victory (not even one step) and regresses ten steps due to the manner in which it loses.

Agreed. There is certainly no guarantee this team can even make the playoffs the way things look right now. The talent is there though, these guys have proven themselves in the past, they are still the same skillwise.

Am I looking forward to pitchers and catchers? - unfortunately
