This is disgusting. I can't take it anymore. I firmly believe Paxson sees this the same way. I've been saying (and his comments validate it) that he told Boylan to play the vets for a while to win, and if they couldn't then he would start playing the youth. This is obviously being done as much to boost trade value as to actually win (because we're clearly not winning even with the vets). I think people should realize that whoever trades for a Wallace, etc. will be a sucker. And every 10+ rebound game he has makes him more attractive to the sucker that gets him. Unlike the other 29 teams, the sucker who trades for Wallace will forget about our record and forget about how Wallace gives up 20 and 20 to Samuel Dalembaert, etc. This is a good thing. We are loosing and trade value for BW, BG, Deng, Noc, and Smith is rising from what it was earlier this year. It's the best of both worlds once you realize that this group will never win a title as is, unless TT and Noah are way more than they look like. We NEED a good trade, at LEAST one, to reload. Let's face it, all our vets - BW, JS, BG, KH, LD, AN, CD... have more trade value if they play more minutes and put up more meaningless stats. At the same time, they be a worse chance (BW and CD at least) for us to win, so hopefully in addition to pumping trade value for those we MUST make a trade happen with, we also lose more games, get a better pick, AND IMO TT and Noah might have more trade value right now the less they play also, as I think they may not be quite what they were hyped to be. Is till like them a lot and can easily see them as out long term answers at their spots, but IF we decide to trade them, I think not playing doesn't affect their trade value, unlike the vets.

So basically these are the obvious right moves (what we're doing right now), unfortunately. Let's put our heads together, go in our individual Bat caves, and come up with real trades. I don' really want to hear anyone say we should wait until the offseason. Pax is not going to waste the whole season playing BW and CD like this. He is not going to be pigeonholed into making a move with BG or LD that he doesn't have control over. With Eddy Curry and Jamal Crawford, he thought/knew he had better options. He knows that's not the case with LD and BG. I GUARANTEE everyone on this board he will know 95% by the trade deadline whether they are in our long term plans. If he decide they are (because we either win every game between now and then, or, more likely, we make a big trade with other pieces or with one of them but no the other), he will sign them/match them at almost any realistic price (with the 5% of indecision being if they are offered the MAX, etc). If he decides either one or both are not in our long term plans, he definitely trade them.

Once the trade deadline comes we have basically decided to keep them on our team for a few years. This team is not going to get it done. Lets use this thread to offer our best solutions. Please don't include hypotheticals like drafting a certain player (we have NO idea where we will pick, likely 1-18) or signing a certain free agent, especially not in 3 years. But please say "address SG iwith our draft pick" or "pick up one of...several players who could easily be had for MLE" if that's what you think we should do.

I'm going to go work on mine. Let's get everyone's big ideas out here first and then after we can narrow it down (eliminate the virtual duplicate ideas), we can start another thread debating the merits of the legit ideas.

i think there have been a number of quality ideas on this board. Of course, until one of the real gm members gets hired to bulls front office...all the great ideas in the world won't help us.

The problem is I can't see other GMs lining up to trade for any of the Bulls' players right now...but if they do, they will likely want to try and get them on the cheap, since the Bulls are floundering so badly and the players' trade value are all pretty low right now.

True - most of our guys' value is in the toilet now,

However, Bynum's injury (MRI Monday) plus old injuries to Brown & Mihm may make them consider trading for wallace

They know they can get him cheaply

trade joe smith, chapu, (mavs) kirk, gordon for expirings (heat)
trade expirings for draft pics (cavs, kings, 6ers)
+ only take contracts that go to 2009 or 2010, so we have tons of Free Agent money when bigben expires

with 3 picks, tyrus/deng/noah/gray we can have some real options

Jose Calderon is a RFA in the offseason...if TJ Ford comes back, will the Raptors really pony up the $8+ million/year Calderon is going get offered by other teams? Bulls should think very hard about making a real run at this guy...although if they get him, that would probably mean Having to let Gordon walk (or do a sign & trade), or look to move Hinrich for a big SG. Calderon is the kind of PG the Bulls need. And at 6'3" 210 the backcourt wouldn't be any smaller than it is now.

If possible Bulls should also draft a big guard with real offensive potential. Right now they are positioned for a late lottery pick, so would mean Rose, Mayo and Gordon would likely be off the board. There are a lot of big guards listed on the current mock drafts, but how many of them could step right in as a 2nd or 3rd option on a NBA team is up in the air.

I'd like to remind you that earlier in the season we got into an argument about Calderon being better than Hinrich. You said something about how you weren't sold on Calderon's defense and that you weren't sure if he'd be too effective without Bosh.

But yes, Bulls should definitely make a run at him.

I can't see the Raptors moving him now, but if Ford retires and Calderon gives any indication that he wants to leave then the following trade works financially:

If I remember correctly that last summer or the end of the summer, that Calderon was going to play at overseas and wasn't going to play for this season. Which he decide to play for the regular season and he decide to play this season.

I don't mind having Calderon play for this team, a pure pg who has a better court vision then our guards and he can shoot better then Chris Duhon. His defense isn't good but isn't bad either just average.

As other poster mention that he's going to be a free agent this summer but he might play overseas after his contract is up. He was hinting idea to play oversea as I mention above my post and may play oversea once his contract is up.
