Boston lost at home to the Wiz today

This was the game where the Wizwere going to be paid back for beating the Celts last week in Washington

Looks like our record will hold

Of all the Celt losses, this one is the most shocking to me!

It was always safe. They opened the season with a cream puff schedule that lasted over 2 months.

In fact, this was a 2nd of a back-to-back against the Wizards and the Wizards won both.

The record will always be safe.

I said for years a team would go 16-0 in the NFL before winning 72 games in the NBA. Now that that has happened I'll come out and say this. Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak will be broken before a team wins 72 games. Too many factors play into winning that many games. Agree with Duck. Their start had not reached anything more impressive than the last few teams (Mavs, Detroit, Suns) who had rocketed off to a hot start only to fall on tough times sometime toward mid or late season.

Boston is who we thought they were. A very good team. Arguably best in the East, but not a all time legendary team nor even favorites for a title this year.

Although I dont feel as confident as some of you about the 72 game record, I do agree it will be a long time until anyone even sniffs 70 games.

I've been reminding people that Boston's schedule was really easy at the get-go and towards the end of Feb and March they are lined up with tough western conference teams.

The first half outburst by the Celts was just the honey moon period for the team, soon the real personality of the team will come through.


Salary caps in the NBA are flexible, not quite like the MLB, but not as restricted as the NFL.

Just think if a team like the Knicks can channel that 100 mill payroll into 3-4 star players.

Thats about right. I think it can happen. I think it might happen. But I've yet to see the team that made me think, even for a second, that they were capable of it. Granted, its only been 11 years.

It never once crossed my mind that Boston had any shot at equalling that win total. I'd invite people to take a close look. Outside of playing Detroit twice, they haven't played anyone. Their schedule has been laughably easy. Boston will likely win 59-64 games and have a wonderful season. Nothing to sneeze at. I love what they are doing out there in Beantown.

I agree as well i dont think anyone will ever knock off that 72 win record.
That Bulls team in my opinion is definitly the greatest team of all time .
I personally dont even think anyone will ever win 70 games let alone 73 to break the record.

No, they lost 1 game near the end by 1 point, and they rested their best players quite a bit, but certainly not the whole game. (Jordan 31 minutes, Pippen 30, Rodman 26)

i can't believe some people actually thought the C's were on track to best our 72 win season.

fellas, we started out that year 41-3!

it seems like once every few years a team gets off to a blazing start and all of a sudden people start clamoring about 70 wins. what most don't realize is that in the second half of the season, you usually lose twice as many games as you did in the first half of the season.

the 96 bulls were a team of destiny, i don't know that we will ever see that many wins again in our lifetime. sure, records are meant to be broken, but will we be around to see it?

The Bulls 8th, 9th, and 10th loss were all by 1 point. But it was over a 15 game span.

That was the 69 win season I think, it pissed me off cause I wanted back to back 70 win seasons. O well.

Do you remember those great days when we, as fans, almost always came away happy?

i sure hope washington is boston's golden state. I really am so sick of boston sports i'd rather not hear about them for another 10 years.

Their last three losses of the season were all by a single point.

I'm pretty surprised that Boston two games against Washington in such a short space of time, I caught parts of both games and Allen was playing pretty bad compared to his usual standards. Terrible passes at times and just didn't look his usual smooth self.
