maybe a smaller deal?(maggete or mike miller)
i dont know guys i just have the feelin we are what we are and thats the way pax is going to keep it until the offseason at least..and sadly that means more wallace ,griffin and duhon and less tyrus,thabo and noah..

The other 2 players on Bulls are Khryapa, who was essentially acquired for a second round pick & the right to swap Tyrus/Aldridge, and Nichols, who was actually the player Portland selected with the pick that we gave them for VK & was later acquired by Bulls off waivers.

I thought that was really strange.....


Anyhow, will Paxson make a deal? Dont hold your breath.

Yet I feel in my heart that he may actually do something in next 36 days.

The Bulls are in a real bad contract situation right now. Its pretty hard to make moves due to the current contract status of many of the players.

If nothing happens, this would be a big reason for it.

Amare, T-Mac, Gasol, Carter, Randolph are avialable.

I wouldn't be opposed to Wallace for Randolph, as it gets rid of Wallace, and gives us an offensive guy, but you have to keep him from being a black hole and get him to play defense at the same time.

Amare for the youngings (sans Gray) and Nocioni would be lovely though.

Gasol and Navarro for Tyrus, Nocioni, and Thabo would be fine.

I don't really want Carter or T-Mac, unless its pretty much a Hinrich and filler for them type of trade.

In an interview today on local TV, Don Nelson says the Warriors are working on a trade. For him to say that, it must be almost done.

Hopefully it involves the Bulls - but dont bet on it.

I'd be extremely shocked if Paxson doesn't make a move before the deadline.. But then again, nothing shocks me about this incompetent GM.

Looking at the GS roster, I don't really see anyone that the Bulls would be interested in, outside of maybe Harrington.

Unless we are talking about a minor deal, I just don't see a Chi-GS trade that seems very likely at all.

When a player signs a new contract in which the first year is a 20% or greater increase over their previous last year of contract, they are BYC. This excludes a minimum salary player or a team under the cap.

Anyways, the BYC changes the value of the incoming contract a team can take on. A team can not take back more/less than 125% plus/minus 100K than they are sending out (if they are over the cap). What BYC does is makes the BYC player's salary worth their previous salary or 50% of their new salary, whatever is larger.

So a BYC player with a $5M deal only counts for $2.5M for incoming. The catch though is that the team receiving this player still counts their actual salary.

The only way around it is to add more players (and thus more salary to the deal). The more salary you add, the greater that 125% margin grows so that difference between outgoing and incoming salary becomes less important.

Paxson could make a move, but nothing that all of the sudden makes us better. We need to go through mini-rebuild and go from there.

Even if he could make a trade that would get us to the playoffs would it be worth it? I doubt it would be good enough to make us legitimate East contenders so we might as well take our chances with what we have and wait until the off season after we've been able to evaluate everyone fairly.

Agreed. We're in really bad shape right now. We're fighting for a high playoff seed at best, the defense is now struggling, and the coaching staff seems somewhat incompetent. Unless the price was very favorable, a Magette/Brand/Gasol move would strike me as a band aid for a bullet wound. The best idea is to move Wallace and maybe Noc. I'm not terribly optimistic that he can be moved though. I guess I'd consider cutting him instead of tempting coaches to play him for the next 2.5 seasons.

Just sit Wallace and Duhon and play out the rest of the year. Hopefully we are in the lotto. So much more flexibility this summer.

I don't look at it as being "stuck" with this "team." I look at it as being "stuck" with Ben Wallace.

For the most part, I like our roster.

I can't really agree with that. Sure we are craptastic right now - but each day that passes gets us closer to the end of this season.

I still like our roster, save for Ben Wallace.

We are three months away from shipping Boylan's ass back to college.

This season over is one season less of Ben Wallace.

Kirk can't play any worse than he has - can he?

Duhon is a FA - please god let him walk. This should free up plenty of time for Thabo.

Deng is back to playing at a high level, and makes me think he can be a 20/7 guy for the next 10 years.

Noah is proving every game that he is ready to play the C position as soon as our coaches wipe the shite from their eyes.

Gray is going to be a solid backup who can play in matchup situations.

The only other real problem I have with this roster is that we still don't know what the hell we have in Tyrus.

I agree in a lot of ways. I still like most of the roster quite a bit. I just think the team is very far away from playing good basketball right now. I don't think that necessarily means the roster needs a lot of changes or that it will be a long time before we're playing good basketball. I just wouldn't want to shove all in on the fact that acquiring a player like Gasol is what we need to turn things around. That's not because I don't like Gasol, it's because if we're still playing mediocre defense, running Wallace out there for 30 MPG each night, battling injuries, and seeing important players slump badly at times then we will have sacrificed the future without getting very good in the present/near future.

I'm in agreement with Magilla, Duck, and Jeremy.

They could ship Hinrich out (and he's a huge problem right now), but it's possible he is having one really bad year after getting married.

They really need to find out what they have in Tyrus, as Magilla said. It's the Cedric Benson type thing all over again. Then again, maybe Paxson thinks he knows.
