Playing Tyrus at SF is HURTING HIM!!!

Since T2 has started playing SF he has been awful. He can play there defensively but offensively he is brutal. What's even worse is it has effected how well he has played at PF too.

TYRUS IS A PF NOT A SF!!!

Thabo needs to get the backup SF minutes not Tyrus.

I don't like either, it isn't his true position and it hurts the team offensively, still I don't think it's all that bad from Ty's POV. It can't be hurting him anymore than sitting on the bench hurts him, I'd rather him grab some minutes at SF than none at all.

We really do need to get him some PF minutes, but it all ties into the front court log jam-play the youth discussion that we beat to death on a daily basis.

Defensively it's not a problem, yet anyway, offensively though it kills our spacing, like it isn't dead already.

I'm not all that bothered, like I said SF minutes are better than bench minutes.

I agree this is dumb. Would you take a 19 year old raw Amare and play him out on the wing?

No. You glue his ass to weight room and have him play on the block. The mis-development of TT is looking all too familiar to Bulls fans.

Its just another obviously idiotic example, in a recently long line of examplse, of the organization's mishandling youth.

See the sig. Boylan is boiling the meat.

I have been saying this for a long time as well.

He needs to be treaded just like Amare and Howard. He needs to live in the weight room, not even touching a basketball. I don't want him shooting 500 jumpers a day when he should be working on getting stronger.

Look at how much bigger Howard and Amare got after a couple of years a busting it in the weight room! GET TT on the same plan!

I was at the game last night sitting in the 100 level, and it pained me to see Tayshaun on Tyrus and vice versa. Tyrus on the wing just cracked me up and he looked really confused...like he was gonna hit a 3? And the worst part was the players could tell it wasn't right because he called for the ball and Gordon or Hinrich (whoever was point at the time) didn't bother to pass to him even when he was wide open (Prince was collapsing).

I couldn't disagree anymore.

He is very raw as it is, sure the weight room would do him good, but not touching a basketball? Thats the last thing he needs.

He needs time on the basketball court, getting better both with the ball (shooting, dribbling, driving, faceup/post moves) and without the ball (Positioning, footwork, cutting, defense etc).

Most people bash Ty for being so raw, he needs to learn how to play the game. Locking him up in a weight room would make him even less of a basketball player and more of player who is here purely because of his athleticism and strength.

Primarily he needs to work on the skill and mental side of the game. Getting stronger or better physically is lower down on the list IMO.

The worst part is when Boylan puts out the 3-4-5 lineup of Tyrus, Noah, and Wallace. :sigh:

That is a horrible offensive lineup in the first place, and Tyrus needs to play closer to the basket to be effective anyways. There he can get more rebounds, get some post scoring done, and get easier dunks.

The weight room can never hurt, as long as you are developing your shot along the way. When I worked out in HS, I remember playing basketball later on and missing all my jump shots horribly because I was stronger than before. Muscle memory they say?

I think the Bulls should cut there loses and trade him . He is more raw than Tyson was he was with the Bulls

I gave Tyson 5 years to get his **** together. Apparently that was one year not enough.

I'm not going to make the same mistake with Tyrus - it has been less than two seasons - those writing him off are delusional.

I seem to recall that Tyrus said last year that he sees himself as a SF. Maybe Boylan is giving Thomas a chance to prove it. Then again, maybe Boylan is trying to clear Tyrus's head of this silly notion.

Just to clarify for the pop reference illiterate:Duck's sig quote is from Apocalypse Now, not South Park.

Or maybe Boylan is just a dumbass. All his other moves seem consistent with that prognosis.

If TT was destined to be a 3 in this league, I'd be pleased as punch. Unfortunately, anyone believing he has that future is sipping kool-aid.

Exactly.

Whatever approach you take, you have to make a concerted effort to develop your high draft picks.

I shake my head when people label Tyrus a bust after less than a season and a half (***cough****Red Larrivee***cough***).

If Paxson makes some kneejerk trade involving Tyrus, he will have lost me. Anytime you get the #2 pick, you gotta make damn sure you did everything possible to develop him.

I will agree that tyrus has amazing potential. But he is such a project. Players like him develop playing in situations like minnesota, seattle, memphis, etc. Now i'm not saying we're all that, but we are trying to be really competitive and he just doesnt have it right now. I really don't see him starting again till his 4th year unless he has an insane growing curve this offseason. Should be interesting. I wish we could package him to get gasol, but only time will tell.

I have a few theories...
1st - We're looking to get our youth on the court and with us SHORT at SF right now, it's between Tyrus or Griffin.
2nd - Getting Tyrus and Noah some time together, no matter what.
3rd - Just getting Tyrus on the floor, with him playing faster players at SF, maybe it'll show him he's got some work that he needs to do.

At this time I take Noah over Tyrus at PF, Noah's older and more ready, this isn't to take anything away from Tyrus but it is what it is. The future is Noah at Center, Tyrus at PF, Deng at SF, that's a great frontline to let grow together for the next decade.

You're taking one statement to an extreme.

Tyrus's biggest problems right now have nothing to do with basketball.

For some reason, and I won't call him an idoit, but he hasn't figured out where he is supposed to be in our system. He needs to get a tutor to help him learn what his role is going to be, so he knows the plays well enough to stay in the game.

he then needs to get in the weight room and work harder than any other. No one gets pushed around more than Tyrus down below. He gets a lot of dumb fouls because of this.

Both of these have nothing to do with using a basketball. Sure, he shouldn't just stop with shooting, but the time he spent so called shooting 800 jumpers a day was a waste of his, and the organisations time.

He HAS to get stronger, and he HAS to understand the bulls system, or he is never going to take it to the next level.

Good point about Tyrus fitting in better in places like Minny. Maybe we can get Corey Brewer for him...
