Smith: Bulls looking to deal Thomas, he's in the doghouse.

Post#1 » by Bull Shak » Mon Jan 21, 2008 12:07 am

If you email Sam Smith regarding Tyrus, he will reply that Tyrus Thomas is on the Bulls' bad side, and that they are actively seeking to deal him.

Looks like Tyrus Bustmus won't be here past the deadline.

Not sure what to believe but if that is true that is stupid. A Tyrus trade would pale in comparison to the Chandler for Brown trade.

Well Tyson was a good NBA player when we traded him, and was the guy that got so many key stops and rebounds for us. Chandler for Brown was dumb.

Tyrus for something useful (like say Ron Artest, Jason Richardson, Andrew Bogut) wouldn't be in the same thing as the PJ trade.

Now obviously what we get is all speculation, but I'd imagine that we get something of value for Tyrus, and not just an expiring. Maybe we nab that Atlanta pick from Phoenix or something.

Sam Smith hasn't had his foot inside the inner-workings of the Bulls front office in the last ten years.

The issue with Tyrus is that he is a natural 4. Right now, Noah, Joe Smith and Nocioni are all playing the 4 pretty well. The Bulls just don't have playing time available for Tyrus and Smith is using it to continue to spin his agenda.

It's sad. We can't even say with confidence right now that Boylan will let Thabo start when Duhon gets back. It seems obvious, but that's not Boylan. He still praises Ben Wallace and Du effusively. If there's no confidence for Thabo even with his recent play, we should have no hope that Tyrus' career will be revived anytime soon. Joe Smith, a supposed stopgap, has become this team's answer at PF. This is definitely not what Paxson made Joe Smith's acquisition sound like back in summer '07.

We would get none of those guys for tyrus.

Sam may have told you that - but Sam is not unbiased when it comes to Tyrus nor is he a Bulls Insider

I think the play of Smith, Noc & Noah at PF has lowered minutes for Tyrus.

Also, we really dont have a good PG. Neither Duhon, Hinrich nor the other guards can feed Tyrus like he needs to be fed for his skills. A decent PG would make Tyrus excel. We have nothing close.

I do see Tyrus probably being included in a deal for Gasol. However, we arent trading Tyrus just to dump him. The kid still has lots of potential & learning to do.

1. It's Sam Smith

2. Bulls play Thomas as a 3 these days. Ergo, they're trying to get him minutes, even if it's out of position.

3. It's Sam Smith

Now, I like the fact that he's getting just some kind of PT, but unless the Bulls at some point give Nocioni or Joe Smith a night off and provide Thomas with 20+ minutes at the power forward spot, I think they're hurting his development. Tyrus is a 4 and nothing else.

Didn't really need Sam "Sweatervest" Smith to tell us that Tyrus was on the trading block. But it looks pretty true either way.

We won't get something special for Thomas by himself. With another prospect than we might. I have no idea what the Bulls would get for Thomas all by himself.

I don't care if we trade him as long as the return is good.

I wonder what an off season package of Nocioni, Tyrus, and our #1 (assuming it isn't top 5) could net?

Who cares. It's just two Tyrus haters teaming up to write bad articles and bad threads.

Is there a way that we can spread a rumor or actually trade Sam Smith to another state/city newspaper?

Depends on what we can get for Thomas.. If it's not worth it.. Keep him on the bench and hope he adds more bulk to his wiry thin frame so he can play the 4. You still have him at a very cheap price and he could pay off in the long run.

It's more mental with Tyrus than anything right now.. He just doesn't look focused on the task at hand..

Only if we take on a bad contract and give up a 1st rounder. Sam has negative value at this point.

The OP is not saying Sam Smith said that, he said if you email him, he will tell you that.

If you email me I will say this should be locked unless Sam actually said this. I don't like Sam, but we have no need to make up things to make fun of. If he did say it, perhaps a more direct quote would be appropriate.
