short/long term plan-no panic

1. Wait for 4 weeks-if we improve-ride it out. If we still suck, time for some moves to see what we have

2. If, near the deadline or earlier we are still bad, trade wallace, smith and duhon (if necessary)

Deals-
Wallace, curry and nicols and the bulls #1 (top 12 protection this year-top 5 next) for collins, maglore and nacbar
NJ gets a defensive minded big and a pick. we dump wallace

OR
wallace and curry for kwame and vlad
i like the other better, but this might work for both teams. Bulls eat Vlad's deal, but he might have use down the road?

the other deal is Joe smith. Of course, he's playing very well, but this is a case of sell high. We need minutes to see what Tyrus is.

Smith for barry and rights to splitter
SA could use him badly, perfect in their system. They might need one mroe guy to put them over the top.

or a more complicated:
duhon for banks
smith for ATL pick and TE from Suns (bulls could throw in a 2010 pick or something)

Smith would fit lots of places.

3. Hire Rick Carlise or Larry brown. We need a vet coach to come in and preach defense and ball movement, someone the young guys would listen to.

4. keep all the young guys, let them keep working together. A core of
kirk/ben
thabo/ben
deng/noc
TT/noc
Noah/gray
could win a title, with time and the right coach.

The key is not to panic. We don't need more lottery picks, just minutes for the kids and a top coach.

Step 1: Tank for Derrick Rose

Step 2: Trade Hinrich for Josh Childress

Step 3: Championship

I'm only semi-joking about the tanking.

4 more weeks eh? This is starting to sound like Iraq when they kept saying we need 6 more months to see which way its going to break, for several straight years.

Paxson has been *evaluating* in some form or other whether to keep the general course of this team on track ever since 2 and a half years ago when the team almost missed the playoffs down the stretch in 06. And every time, the team has just barely confirmed to him to keep going.

But at some point, if you made the right call to begin with, you should have to stop evaluating and be happy with your choice. At some point, several years on the team should be starting a upward trend that does not reverse and therefore assures you that you made the right call to keep the core together. If 2 and a half years after you were initially in doubt, you are still in doubt, like we are now, that alone should be an answer that maybe the wrong decision was made way back when.

I just want to say, what team are we giving up on, one that made it to the second round of the playoffs? I mean, its not like this team was in the finals, they suck and now we need to blow it up. I always wondered what the original playoff team would have looked like if we didn't get rid of Eddy and Tyson so quickly, but that is past so no should-coulda. But I think this team has plateued and hopefully we can get cap space by 09-10 and sign a nice FA.

After this season get rid of now overpaid Kirk Hinrich.

Try to dump Ben Wallace off to a championship ready team.

Ben Gordon isn't going to sign back with this awful team. We'll watch him become a star on up coming young team( Bobcats, Nets, Orlando, Cav's, Clippers)

Luol Deng isn't coming back he was to salty about not getting the contract thing signed with Pax.

Draft some new young guys and hope Thabo, Tyrus, Noah, Gray, and Curry become good with more playing time.

Nets are a young up and coming team?

Out of those teams you listed - only the Clippers and Bobcats have cap room, and thats only if they let their own free agents walk (Elton Brand & Emeka Okafor). Its doubtful they would give up on big men to sign an undersized shooting guard.

Unless Gordon wants to play for the QO, he will be resigned/signed & traded by the Bulls.

Please Gordon don't have to take QO he will get signed this off season to a decent contract. Gordon could care less if the Bulls trade him this team isn't even no where near being a good team, in fact this team is a joke they paid 60 mil for a bust player in Wallace. Believe me many teams want a 25 yr old 20 ppg dead eye shooter on their team. Gordon will make his way with out the bulls.

It might take seven years knowing Pax recent non talented picks. He came across some good ones in Gordon, Deng, and Nocioni now there ready to move on.

we still have a lot of talent. We need TT/Noah to come around, but our core is fine. I am NOT down with another 3 year rebuild. I still believe we will make the playoffs and possibly make some noise.

However, I would rather focus on next year. Look what happened with chandler. Gordon will take our $-he's getting a ton of minutes and shots. Kirk will bounce back-deng too. Remember, there are no guarantees in the lottery-we've had enough high picks. I would give this young core at least a year and a half-no one is older than 27 (when your prime starts)
