I thought it was a little lame that he got irritated about being asked about the 'untouchable' thing (I sensed testiness there), yeah, it must get annoying, both answering the same things and second guessing, but what are you expecting in an interview. So every good question (which you figure won't/can't be answered straight) is answered with "I don't feel like I have to defend myself", and then I think he basically blames Reinsdorf, when he brings up an example of an owner getting involved and financial ramifications
Later in the show Carmen said if he's the GM, the biggest mistake and things that keeps him up at night is passing on Brandon Roy

When Pax was asked about Deng/Gasol, and he sort of got into the analysis of what the team would be afterward, he said the team would have no SF (because Noc was hurt). And that the team had been playing well already and he didn't think just having this guy that score in the post would necessarily change things that much. He admits to saying no do including Deng, but challenged the radio host to find other deals where the same thing happened as if a pattern would really need to be established to make it fair to calling his position on Luol 'untouchable'.
Common sense tells you that if Memphis was asking for Gordon too (which is a common Paxson defense about this issue), that he would have mentioned it at least once by now in numerous times that he has been asked about this. If for no other reason than to convince questioners that he made the right move.
There is just little evidence for the "they wanted too much!!!" line of Pax rationalizations. Our best supporting evidence from Pax himself, simply hint that he didn't want to do Deng for Gasol as the center points of the deal last year. If that is the case, I think he messed up.

And despite my long-standing contention that Nocioni (who would have been our long-term SF in this scenario) is basically all sizzle and no steak, I agree that it was a major mistake to not pull the trigger on Gasol for Deng, P.J., and a pick.
