ESPN: Dunleavy doesn't hold back responding to Sterling's comments

Tension is brewing in Clipper-land between management and their head coach. With Kaman, Cassell, Maggette, and Brand going through injuries all year, management says the Clippers should still be in a playoff hunt and blame Dunleavy. Skiles' firing was kept pretty hush-hush until we were hit in the face with it Christmas Eve, however, the Clippers have taken this to the media.

Just last year, Dunleavy signed a 4-year extension...so I'm not sure how his contract is structured with clauses.
...but IF he's fired...what are your thoughts on considering him as an option. He has obvious playoff experience with the Lakers, Blazers, and Clippers.

Just food for thought...

Donald Sterling, in comments made to the Los Angeles Times, had expressed disappointment in his team's fortunes and made what sounded vaguely like an ultimatum, saying, "I want to make L.A. fans proud of this team, but if [Elgin Baylor and Mike Dunleavy] can't make it happen, then I have no choice but to make changes."

To which Dunleavy retorted: "It would be the biggest mistake you ever made. It's his team and he can do whatever he likes ... but look, you can find any coach you want, bring him in here and run the situation. But I don't think they are going to do as good a job as I do. And that's period."

Well he certainly isn't humble, is he?

I haven't followed Dunleavy closely, though it's obviously clear that he's had a good deal of success in the NBA. That being said, I don't like how he's used Maggette at all. The guy seems like such a tremendous asset and has typically been misused regularly. I'm tired of seeing players on our team missused. I'd be reluctanct to hire him, but he's certainly worth a look.
