1. Who wouldn't?

2. Base..ball? :dontknow:

Hopeless is a strong word, I agree. But you gotta admit, Jerry is one cheap-ass owner when looking at the anual profits. I mean, we're number one in the NBA. By a large margin, IIRC.

Old article but still shows how disgustingly cheap our team is being.

Wow, we paid an extra 4 mil a year to "UPGRADE" a young Chandler to a getting old Wallace but we can't pay 5-6 million to make sure we have as good of a coach as posssible?

Why, why, why the hell is Paxson talking about the NBA heading towards a more athletic league... drafting players like Tyrus, Thabo and Noah, then not getting the coach who would be best to utilize their talents?

Great, we have athletic players and we'll play a tough defense and halfcourt offense with less skilled, more athletic players.. makes no damn sense.

It's going to get worse... we're going to end up with Avery Johnson and we'll get to find out how good of a coach he is without having a ready made team given to him.

Unless some of our young players all of a sudden become a lot better, there's not going to be a whole lot of good basketball to watch in Chicago.

The skinny
Not only have the Chicago Bulls survived the departure of Michael Jordan, but they have thrived since the superstar retired (financially at least). The Bulls have been the NBA's most profitable team this decade thanks to a huge fan base and low payrolls. The team has averaged $46 million in operating profits the past eight seasons versus a league average of $7 million. Only the Lakers have been in the same stratosphere when it comes to profits. The Bulls have consistently drawn more than 20,000 fans a game to the United Center, and led the league in attendance last season for the first time since 1999-2000. Owner Jerry Reinsdorf will have to open up his checkbook to keep his young stars, like Ben Gordon and Luol Deng, who are due big raises

All I am saying is it's not hopeless. Grim, maybe. But not hopeless.

He paid AFTER it was a proven dynasty & money maker. Originally he screwed over Pippen financially, something that always created a rift. They also tried to trade Pippen on mutliple occasions.

Basically Chicago won championships because Jordan stopped JR & Krause from destroying the team. Once JR & Krause were free to do what they wanted, we all saw what happened.

White Sox are fine because he does care about baseball and always has, since his childhood. He genuinely loves baseball, but basketball is just a money printing machine for him.

I think the fact that he has won 6 rings and a World Series makes the situation almost hopeless. He's won more then he could of ever imagined in the NBA and he accomplished a life long dream by winning the World Series. He has no reason to care about winning anymore, if people are going to buy merchandise and sell-out games then what is the point of paying absurd dollars for players. You think Jerry cares if he has 7 rings as opposed to 6.

We all heard Ozzie's comments about the ownership I believe he said something like, "Our owner is a piece of sh*t" or "We have the worst owner" during one of his outbursts a week or two ago.

It's fine to have a limit to have what you'll spend on your team.

But when you've had chances to get a very good player by eating some money... when you're bringing in so much in come you do it.

When you have a coach that probably fits your roster you're molding.... you do it.

You have parameters for your team, but when given a chance to add possible great pieces to a team by eating some of your HUGE profits you do it if you care at all about the team.

There's certainly hope that the organization will be fiscally strong.

As for winning, no there isn't.
