Francisco Liriano, the 28-year-old southpaw with electric stuff, was acquired from the Twins in exchange for utility infielder Eduardo Escobar and Minor League southpaw Pedro Hernandez.

Overall, Liriano's had a rough season, and the Sox beat him up in his last outing, but in his previous 7 starts, his ERA was about 2.50. I like it.

This trade is a big gamble to say the least. He looked like crap the last time and even though he had been doing ok before that, the season didn't start out so smoothly.

We'll see if the change of scenery revives him. at least we didn't give up a lot.

He's a classic coop reclamation project. His problem is mechanics and control. His stuff is still there for the most part.

Just FYI, Liriano will be starting tomorrow night (7/31) in Minny.

Twins just lit up Cleveland after we lit up the Twins. Could be a four hour game tonight!

He looked good the other night and Coop hasn't given him any pointers yet. He's a FA at the end of the year, but I would think the Sox would bring him back before Peavy.

I guess this guy is a pretty big gamble, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Hopefully this guy is solid so then we can rest Peavy and Sale.

This sounds like a good move to me.
