Buehrle to the mets for Lastings Milledge and Carlos Gomes.

I do that trade in a heartbeat.

This was reported by Peter Gammons and was on Mike and Mike. So no links but i think the fire sale is coming and we need athleticism and speed and these 2 sure have that.

No way Gomez is included in that deal. He is one of our "untouchables." It's probably more like Milledge and Mike Pelfrey...

and that would be the Mets robbing Chicago because Pelfrey has stunk eversince going back to the minors and Milledge has yet to prove he can stay healthy or out of trouble to play in the ML, how are they going to ass for Ellsbury,Clay Buchholz, Jed Lowrie and Lester from the Red sox than turn around and as for Milledge and Pelfrey

I'm saying that's all Omar would consider giving up for a FA who is on record saying that he wants to play for St. Louis. Only the Yankees would give up a blue chip prospect for a rental

hahaha true but this is more Omar to me ....

Mets After Jose Contreras

The Mets have kicked the tires on Mark Buehrle, but Jose Contreras may be a more likely acquisition according to the Newark Star-Ledger. The Mets would prefer not to trade younger players for a rental, and may turn to Contreras because he's signed through 2009. I'm sure Kenny Williams would have no problem with that. I think Contreras would handle a return to New York well. Lastings Milledge would be more than enough for Contreras, in my mind.

Trust me. Milledge isn't going anywhere for anything less than Oswalt, Willis or Zambrano. If we do acquire Contreras it'll be for Schoewnweis, Mota or a bag of balls...

EDIT: Sorry, meant Gomez...

I swear if Minaya trades any top prospect for Contreras, I will lose all respect for him. If the White Sox grant us a 72-hour window to sign Buehrle, I would be willing to part with Milledge, Pelfrey, and maybe Humber. Guerra, Martinez, and Gomez are off limits as far as I'm concerned. Gomez is likely going to be our LF for the rest of the year(doubt Alou is coming back).

Buerhle isn't helping is trade value by saying that he will test the free agent waters next offseason if he is traded to another team.

Buehrle pitched a heck of a game today against the Detroit Tigers. He only gave up 1 earned run and got the W. Paul Konerko came up huge in the top of the 8th inning with a two run double putting the Whitesox ahead 2-1 and the Whitesox bullpen shut down the Tigers offense for the W.

Man I'm sorry for this false information. The Tigers must have come back in the bottom of the 9th and won the game. They ended up winning 4-3 or 3-2 I forget which one.

We can't afford to lose Buehrle...he's the base of our starting pitching rotation.
