Trying to add another bat, the Cincinnati Reds promoted infielder-outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr. on Monday and designated infielder Juan Castro for assignment.
Right-hander David Weathers, 38, landed in unfamiliar territory Sunday, and it wasn't on an operating table. An MRI on his arm Saturday was negative, but the Cincinnati Reds placed him on the disabled list anyway
